b ,-rs.L u. tSA ENTERPRI.SE PUBLISHED fIN ENTERPRISING BOGALUSA ISSUED EVERY "7IURSDAY AT 104-106 ALABAMA AVENUE 3UDSCRIPTION RAT 8 $1.50 PER YEAR IN ADVANCE :: PHONE 111 CLYDE S. MOSS .. . . . - OWNER.PUBLISHER Entered as second-clat, matter December 31, 1914, at the Postoffice at Bogalusa Louisiana, under the Act of March 3. 1879. LET'S SEND GOV. SANDERS We will be calle:l' upon shortly to elect a member of the 1915 Con stitutional Convention from Washington Parish. We cast no reflection I upon other prominent and- able citizens of this parish when we say that we hope that Ex-Got J. Y. Sanders will be the member from Washing ton. There is not in the community a man better qualified to represent the parish than J. '4. Sanders. More than a represtative of the parish he is representative bf the entire state and his power and influence will be a dominating factor in the convention. If Gov: Sanders runs for the convention he will most assuredly be I elected. We do not know what his desires are in the matter. But in a case like this the w~fare of the community must be the prime essential. 1 And in this case the Best interest, not only of our parish, but of the State of Louisiana demand` that J. Y. Sanders should be a member of the Con stitutional Conventic . His active public career and the numerous of ices which he has hled in the past, combined with his vast experience ( in legislative affaires .of the State, would give him a standing in the Con vention which no other representative from this or any other parish could hope to enjoy. And the commanding position which he held in E the recent struggle at Baton Rogue on behalf of the plain people has I rendered it imperative that he should continue to lead in the fight for the rights of the masses. As c e have stat.d the Enterprise does not know whether Gov. San ders wants to go to the convention or not, but knowing the man we 1 would say that if he hal any suw:h desires he would have said so long I since. hut whether hie wants to o or not we, the people of this parish need him there. W, be!icve that the best interest of this parish and state de;mand that Gov. Sanders should be a member of the convention t and we ,i.cere!v lh,; that he can be prevailed up)on to accept the nomi- r nation. POLITICIAL STRAWS In last Sunday's '4mea-Picayune it was stated that Judge Brunot and Senator Bea!e of ELiton Rogue had a tnnounced as candidates for the Constitu':i;:vI C:onvetin from East Baton Rouge Parish and that they were A-i.n:is:ratin:)i :aa.lidates. Opno,s; d to them;n the T P stated that G. K. Favrot and W. 1. ir. Bynu had become candidates backed by the "ring or old Sanders element." In the same issue on another page appeared notices from Senator Beale and Judge Br not that they had withdrawn from the race! Sena ,r Beale sta d that his health was such that his physician would not permit him to rin and Judge Brunot, while admitting that his health was good, seemed to .think that the running was poor, Mr. Bynum announced as an anti-Hall man stating that he was op -' posed to Gov. Hall and to any and all schemes to increase the taxes of the people. It is stated that this announcement, and the enthusiasm it provoked among $ie people. was the direct cause that lead up to the wulden :impairment of the health of Senator Beale, and to the public an nouncement that n her he ror his running mate, Judge Brunot would or could any longer tay in th0 race. Hall and Higt er Ilxes can not win in this fight, for thanks to the fight made by Cov. Sanders and his friends at Baton Rouge the Admir istration idea, as cont3ined in the Sundberry Bill, that "the saw mill labol" i e. common people should have no voice in this matter, was defeated and as the bill now tands the common people will not only elect their representatives tl:en selves but will also have the right to vote for cr against the Const'tu ion itself when written. BOGALUSA IS PREY Scarcely a day pa.ses that the business and professional men of Bog alusa are not called upon to assist people who are begging. Investiga tion prov 1that nin': out of every tea are non residents of the Parish. A major1 i these jeople are professionals and it would not be a dad idea to make them 4cure credentials for some charitable organization or offical before they b premitted to solicit funds. Those who can have / no objection to assis ing those who are worthy but professionals have undoubtly spotted *ogalusa as a "good one." The custom is going to iQgrow unless some ac ion is taken ordinary citizen does not like to refuse any one withott same good excuse.
