BOGALUSA LOOKS
MIGHTY GOOD NOW
Meridian, Miss., Jan. 25, 1920.
Dear Aunt Rena and Uncle Dobbs:
How are yon all, hope you are
well. I don't like this place at all.
It is the sorriest place I ever saw.
I don't see why they put it on the
map, because it isn't ^vorth it. It is
a lot bigger than Bogalosa, but not
one-hundredth as good. I wish all
the time that I could come back to a
good city and not stay at this sorry
place. I work all the time I am out
of school, so I won't think about it,
because that just makes me want to
come more than ever.
I sure do miss that good little old
Sunday school there, and all the boys
and girls around there to play with,
because I don't know anybody yet,
except about five. I must quit now.
Your nephew,
MORRIS.

WEEK OF PARTIES
AT THE Y . W. C. A.
Next week is party week and the
clüba are busy making ready for
world's of fun and {foolishness in cele
bration ft Washington's Birthday
and Ye Valentine Day with brand
new jolly stunts.
On Monday, tlm 9th inst., the little
North Side girls in "The Ready for
Service Corps" will entertain a few
selected friends at a George Wash
ington party; then on Tuesday night
the High School Joan of Arcs will
steal forth under cover of darkness
and make merry in honor of good St.
Valentine. By that time mysterious
"invites" will have been received by
'sundry and numerous High School
boys bidding them come to the Y. W.
on Friday night and have a good time
and a great time with the "Excelsior"
corps of the High School company.
Last, but not least, the "Courft-on
Us" grade school corps will have
their Colonial party on Wednesday,

SPRING IS HERE
SAY S GRO UNDHOG
You may as well get that spring
bonnet ready and look into the con
dition of those B. V. D.'s and Palm
Beach suits, because spring will be
here before you know it, unless Mr.
Groundhog is wrong—for the first
time in many years. Monday was
the day for his official appearance
in the open after a rest of several
months. He did not see his shadow
and therefore remained out, which
means that we are to have no more
winter weather.
SHOWING UNUSUAL PICTURES
J. A. Spekenhier, at the First
State Bank, is exhibiting an unusual
set of. kodak pictures that were taken
from the Bogalusa ariplane some time
ago. Those of most interest are of
clouds about a' mile thick that pre-
vented Bogalusans from seeing the
sun during a late spell of cloudy
weather. The pictures were taken
above the clouds.

HOUSE COMMITTEE
OF Y. W. C.A. REPORTS
Due to a very grave mistake, the
excellent report of the House Com
mittee was omitted from the pam
phlets of Yearly Reports sent out by
the Y. W. C. A. It was one of the
best reports of the year and will,
therefore, be of interest to friends
of the Y. W. C. A. It follows in
detail:
The House Committee , held its
usual number of meetings during the
year.
The inventory of dishes and silver
was taken in April and some break
age and loss reported.
The spring house-cleaning was de
layed .until the the visit of the direc
tors of the Great Southern Lumber
Company in May, and the house was
tastefully decorated during their
stay.
The banquet of the Women's Com
mittee of the Victory Loan Cam
paign was held at the Y. W. C. A.
in May and this committee gladly as
sumed charge of arrangements. The
gym was decorated in flags and buntr
ing and the Victory table was very
beautiful.
Plans were drawn in June to have
a box made for pillows and draperies;
to have bookcases and desks made i
for the Girls' Room, and for the Li
brary. These plans, however, did

paid in June to an extra maid for
two weeks' services; the draperies,
etc., were cleaned and stored, and
the house thoroughly cleaned.
In September eight vases were
purchased at a cost of $15, and flow
ers were kept in all rooms during the
autumn season.
A porter was employed for one
week to help with the cleaning. The
draperies were hung in November
and the house looked very cozy and
comfortable.
A picture show was given in De
