PERSONAL MENTION Mrs. G. E. Johnson and two pretty children, of Chicago, are enjoying a visit with her sister, Mrs. L D. Hig don, of 730 Avenue C. Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Swift and Miss Mary Callahan, of Dubois, Pa., ar aived in Bagalusa Monday for an ex tended visit with Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Cassidy. On Wedneseday they mo-* tyred to Columbia and inspected the operations of the Great Southern Lumber Company at that point. Mrs. Wm. Burke is suffering with a severe cold at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. H. Cassidy. Dr. Gardiner of Columbia, Miss., came down Tuesday and spent the j day visiting professional friends in ' Bogalusa. Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Buyers of 310 Louisiana avenue are the parents of a baby girl, who arrived Monday. ! Mr. Wooton has been engaged by the Bogalusa Stores Company to take charge of the grocery depart ment, filling the place made vacant by the resignation of Mr. Ledoux. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Henson of 112 Michigan avenue are the parents of an 814-pound girl, who a rived to their credit at the hospital Tuesday morning. Miss Juanita Powell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Powell, of the Beall addition, is quite ill at the Bo Her condition is ' slowly improving from a severe àt tack of pneumonia. A.* M. Winstead of Richardson town was taken to the hospital Tues .'ay morning suffering with a light attack of pneumonia. He is the fifth member of his family to be thus af flicted. Two deaths have been re rorded at the Winstead home within the last six weeks. Rev. A. J. Gearheard spent last „ , ! Friday an* Saturday in New Orleans ; in the interest of mission. Boyett, whose illness was re ported last week, has not improved and both his doctor and family ex pect the end at any time. Col. Jack Frield and A. D. Dris kell spent last Friday in New Orleans on business. W. C. Flanders spent from Sunday morning to Tuesday evening in New Orleans on business connected with his department. J. P. Starns left Monday afternoon for Amite City, where he goes to visit for a few days with relatives. He made the trip in his Overland cir. Arthur Hood, candidate for clerk of court, spent Tuesday in Bogalusa looking ffter his interests. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Howard of Franklinton were visitors to Bogalusa Sunday. Matinee at 3:15. Colonel Melville Gillette, who is well known to a large number of Bo galusa citizens, was a visitor here last week, and expects to return this week for another visit of a few days. The Hoehiv Dairy Farm, in Adamstown, has just received a car load of fine young Jerseys, all of which are heavy milkers, and are offered at a low price. Brother and Sister Buried Same Week The family of J. M. Saucier of Richardsontown was sorely stricken during the last week, having suffered 'the loss of a son and daughter by death. The daughter died in the Bogalusa Hospital, leaving a new born infant, and the son died in camp at Baltimore, Md., of influenza. The funeral of the daughter, Mrs. Louise Odom, was conducted Sun day afternoon, and that of the son, William Saucier, on Monday after noon. Bote bodies were buried side by side in the Ponemah Cemetery on Louisiana avenue. When it was learned that two deaths had occurred in the same fam ily so close together, plans were made for a double funeral. Word was re ceived that the body of the boy would come in Sunday morning, but the ar rival was delayed and the body did not reach Bogalusa until Monday morning. Rev. A. J. Gearheard conducted both funerals. BIG WEEK FOR BOYS A boys' Hexathlon meet will be held on the Y. M. C. A. grounds from March 13 to 27. Already prac tice has begun for the various ath letic stunts. Several different games —such as potato races—will be run. YOUNG COUPLE MARRY On Thursday evening the marriage of Henry Ladner and Miss Lizzie Mae Lacy, both of Richardsontown, was celebrated at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hull on Avenue E, in the presence of a select number of friends. There are 85 of the workers in all and the plan is to take the census within three hours' time on Sunday, February 29.
