H~ea d yD1he 1'beft qed 1* h"s m' 'b. q You will notice that this shows that in Louisiana and Texas there are only 3,113,009 sacks of rice on hand. This is an actual count by districts, farm to tarea and includes rice in warehouses, barns and .under the straw, and has been re-checked during the pautt ten days. This amount of rice is comparatively small, particularly when you figure that this includes rce that will be used for feed, seed and for planting the near crop. You can conservatively estimate that at least three hunadred thousand sacks will be used for seed and feed, leaving not quite two and three quarter million bags to be disposed of in Lon. isi;ana and Texas. The distribution of rice last month was 870,000 pockets, which Is encour aging considering we have sold no As sociation rice for a month. We are in trecept of a wire from Mr. Ralph ',. Merritt, president of the Pao cific Rice Orowers Association, statina that their crop will not exceed two and a half million bags of 10o pounds to the bag, of 1,340,000 of out ihugs. This is less than was anticpated. California is already shipping rice to Japan and California rice will not interfere with our markets. Our advice to the menmoers of the American Rice (;Growers Association is tv let none' of their rice be sold at the tricec now beinig offetred. Hold firtu. and with the ti,,.nia aI a i-t:trce that .our ~msocieation will rece t, from tihe War 'ilillce Corporation, ou witll be able to narket your crop, in an eordcrly man ier, at certainly, ltui.a higher priL , that are now I,eing offered. Yours truly, H. 0. CHALKLEY, President and Manager. pointed on committee. On motion of Mr. Broussard, second el by Mr. Stansbury, it was moved that a committee be appointed to inves tigate the advisability of consolidating three schools, Tl'heatl, Jean Pere and Mouton Cove, The following commit tee was appointed: Messrs Arvilien 'houte, Sulie Lancour, Duupre Hebert, Laodice Theall, Ophelias Mouton, G.
