DAVE HOFFMAN RETURNS FROM BUYING TRIP Dave H,ffman returned Saturday from St. Lould, where he has speint the last ten days among the wholesale I dry goods houses purchasing his fall stock. He reports that prices art high and still advancing on all stapl 1 goods as well as the better grades, andl it that it is almost itipoessiible to till l complete stockk. From this it seems thitt the outlook is for higher prices still. _-- -o------ INTERESTING NEWS LETTER FROM BIENVILLE VICINITY G. R. ('ummindgs. of IHaynesville, was a business visitor here this week. Mr. M. Tompkins, of Arcadia, was a Sunday visitor here. Miss Maxine Brooks, of Quitman' was the guest of Miss Maude Poole last week. Mrs. Lee McAlpin, of Leesville, vis ited in the home of her parents, Mr, and Mrs. H. F. Scheen, last week. Mrs. Roy Lea and little son, Thomas William, left last week to visit rela tives in Kentwood. Mrs. W. II. Grier left Saturday to join her husband in Shreveport for a week-end visit. Guy Campbell left last Tuesday for Lexington, Va., where he will enter his t senior year at Washington Lee Uni versity. He will obtain his A. B. de- I gree and also finish in the Commerce school in junior. Mrs. C. G. Rudolph entertained at a miscellaneous show Monday afternoon complimentary to Miss Lela May Black who will leave on Wednesday for Wiunfleld, where she will be married to Mr. Griffith, of Chatham. The numerous and lovely gifts attest the popularity of the honoree. Delicious refreshments of chicken sandwiches fruit salad, crackers, pickles and ice tea were served.
