aux Think not lig-htly of never so weak an arm which strikes with the Sword of Justice. VOLUME 18. THIBODAUX, LAFOURCHE PARISH, LOUISIANA, SATURDAY JUNE 11th. 1921. NUMBER 17 Locals Cop See Sa» Game.j Last Sunday at Amuzu Park, tne local aggregation of bali olavers crossed tats with the La rose team, in a slow and listless game, that drew a good atten dance despite che threatening weather, and rain in different sections previous to the hour of the contest. While it did not rain at the park until the game was in progress, it had rain ed in the neighborhood sometime previous. This tended to reduce what might have been a decord breaking crowd. The feature of the game was the errors made on bcth sides, the uncertainty of the umpire, »par ticularly in calling strikes and balls, and the rank decisions which were costly to both sides, to the lccals as well as to the vi sitors. Leonse Morvant who um pired the bases had all of his de cisions accepted, all going unquesj tioned, but the umpire selected by the visitors was very unsatis factory to say the least, not be cause he would be unfair, but b cause he was apparently not too familiar with the game and could not get on to the plate. The pitch ers were good, and if anything Weber. the visiting pitch er, had the better of the argument ever Mil 1er for the locals. Miller migh have done better with better sup port, but the infield had its off day, and Foss, usually errorless was the victim of five or more er rors, due probably to the wet dia mond, the first basemen, Emard, vas faulty, and the short stop, Brennan has done far better, the outfield was great, as usual, Rey nolds making what was conceded an impossible, running, one hand catch ; Loyld Landry was him self, with Chatry in right field taking every chance. Thibodaux secured seven hits, while the vi sitors secured five. Weber struck out none, while Miller secured four batters, bcth walked th° same, four, and W T eber hit three batters. The game seemed to be first for one, and then for the oth er, but the locals never retired in the rear, save in the fifth, and made good, and one better, in the sixth, increasing their lead 4n the seventh, to have the margin nar rowed in the ninth by one. The score by innings is as follows.:— Larose, 00202000 1—5 Thibodaux, 01200220 x Batteries: Larose, Weber and ; Thibodaux, Miller and Beckham. Umpires, and JJorvant. Attendance 1200. Get W. S. S.
