AN ORDINANCE No. 11 of 1912. Providing for the levying of a License Tax upon. all persons, association of persons, firms or corporations conducting the business of retail liquor deal ers, within the corporate lim its of the City of Opelousas, Louisiana, for the year 1913, grading same, and providing penalties for the vio ati o n hereof. Section 1. Be it ordained by the Mayor and Board of Alder men of the City of Opelousas, Louisiana, that there shall be and there is hereby levied upon all persons, firms, corporations, or association of persons, en gaged in the business of retail liquor dealers for the year 1913, the following license, to-wit: Class "A"-When the gross annual receipts of said business shall be one 'hundred thousand dollars or over seventy-five thou sand dollars, the annual license shall be three thousand dollars. Class "B"--When the gross annual receipts are seventy-five thousand dollars, and less than forty thousand dollars, the annual license shall be two thousand dollars. Class "C"-When the gross annual receipts are less than forty thousand dollars, the an nual license shall be six hundred dollars, provided that no license under this ordinance shall be is sued for less than six hundred dollars, except as is provided for by existing State Laws relative to dealers, in mault and vinous liquors. Section I Be it furth or tardaine d--etc., That be and the same are hereby re pealed. Adopted December 4th, 1912. ORDINANCE NO. 25, OF 1912. To provide an annual. revenue for the Town of Melville, La., by levying an. annual tax upon all property situated in the corpor ate limits of the Said Town not exempt from taxation under the laws and, constitution of the State, and providing the manner of enforcing collecting same. Sec. 1. Be it ordained by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the Town ,of Melville, La., That for the year of 1913 there is hereby levied a tax ofFifteen (15) Mills on the dollar of assessed valuation of all property 'situated within the corpor ate limits of the town except such as is exempt from Taxation under the constitution a~d existing laws of the State. Sec. II. Be it further ordained, etc., That the tax hereby levied shall be due and payable at the ofice of the Town Tax Collector as soon as the tax roll of said town shall have been completed and filed in the office of said town tax collector and after this ordinance shall become effective. Sec. III. Be it further ordained, etc., That no forced collection of taxes due upon movable or immovable property, shall be made before the time or date set apart for the forcible collection of State Taxes. Sec. IV. Be it further ordained, etc., That it shall be the duty of the Town Tax Collector to receive and collect the .taxes, interest, penalties and cost due thereon to said town within such time and in such man ner as is provided by the existing State laws for the collection of taxes due the State of Louisiana, and is provided for by the charter of this town. Sec. V. Be it further ordained, etc., That this ordinance shall take ef fect from and after its promulga tion. Sec. VI. Be it further ordained, etc., That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith dr inconsistent to this ordinance, be and the same are hereby repealed.
