Only congenial people can co-oper t together. And in the beginning re must be mutual forbearance un til they have adapted themselves to each other. They must get used to each other, and any one who can't do that will never make a co-operator, and the sooner he quits footing him self, the more quicklywill he get out and stay out in competition where he belongs. Those who want to live in peace and harmony with their fellows and enjoy the plenty that peaceful industry can yield in abundance must be peaceful themselves and inaugurate the reign of peace and plenty. They on their part must be peaceful in their every endea vor and be intelligently industrious; for that alone can supply the plenty • that is universally aspired to. ' Only in this way can a beginning be made of the good time foretold by the proph ets of old, that has been a dream oT hope for countless generations of man. The providence that shapes our ends is nature in all its possible resources and contingencies, and the ends or results that individuals, groups, a community, or a nation gain or reap, depend on the intelligent, use ful and constructive work they do. The co-operators at Llano Colony have chosen this path, never before traveled by any generation of man; history records no instance, at least, of a case where clear-visioned people, free from superstition, have chosen the direct and peaceful course of intelli gent, constructive useful labor to work out their own salvation courageously and without fear. If Ephraim is join ed to his idols of violence and fraud, to the worship of the golden calf and other superstitions, we will leave him to his delusions. Without the Postal Service, business would languish In a day, and be at a standstill In a week. Public opinion would die of dry rot. Sectional hatred or prejudice only would flourish, and narrow-mindedness thrive. It Is the biggest distinctive business In the world and it comes nearer td the Innermost Interests of a greater num ber of men and women than any other Institution on earth. No private busi ness, however widespread, touches so many lives so often or sharply; no church reaches Into so many souls, flutters so many pulses, has scsjnany human beings dependent on Its min istrations. "Postal Improvement Week" has been set for May 1, by the Postmaster General. This Is the first general cam paign of its kind In the Postal Service for several decades. Business ijien and their organizations, large users of the mail, newspapers, motion pictures, advertisers, and the entire organiza tion of 320,000 postal workers are to be enlisted In this country-wide campaign of' Interest In postal Improvements. Your help Is vital. Address your let ters plainly with pen or typewriter. Give street address. Spell out name of State, don't abbreviate. Put your return address In the upper left hand corner of envelope (not on the back) and always look at your letter before dropping In the mail to see if It is properly addressed. This care in the use of the mails Is for your benefit and speeds up the dispatch and delivery of mall matter. If you have any complaints of poor service make them to your postmaster. He has instructions to investigate them and report to the department. COURTESY It sticks in human relations like postage stamps on letters. The POST OFFICE DEPARTMENT ex pects it to be used by its postmasters and employees in dealing with the public. Help them in its use beginninp with POSTAL IMPROVEMENT WEEK, May 1-6, 1022.
