Mrs. K. R. Hood has returned home after a pleasant visit to relatives in Texas. J. J. Leblanc has returned from a visit to Monroe. La. He went there in his car. Mr. E. R. Hobby of Port Ar thur, Texas, has joined the local forces of the Texas Co., here. While Freight Train No. 55 was coming out of a siding two miles west of New Iberia Mon day evening, the fast Sunset Limited, No 102 smashed into the freight and did considerable damage, howevev no lives were lost and save a few passengers shaken up no passengers were injured. The wreckage caused considerable delay to trains and telegraph lines were also wreck ed. The blame for the accident has not yet been fixed. STORMS APPARENTLY ARE CONTAGIOUS This time the Carribean Sea furnishes a hurricane that is now believed to be in the neigh borhood of Porto Rico according to a signal message received this morning by displayman Jolley which was posted at 10:30 a. m., reading as folows: Advisory 10 a. m. Tropical disturbance evidently central in Eastern Car ribean south of and not far from Porto Rico. Available informa tion yet too meagre to estimate its probable course. Lassus visited in Morgan City Thursday on busi ness. Miss Rachael Norgress is visiting relatives in New Or leans. Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Cotten of Morgan City were the guests of the latter's parents, Mr. and !Mrs. G. A. Rousell. Wednesday. Miss Victoria Stevens of Mor gan City, spent the latter part of the week here on business. Mr. Sam Caro of Morgan City was a business visitor here Fri day. Mr. Wm. Verret, manager ot Fairview Plantation was a busi ness visitor here Wednesday evening. Mr. Dave Norman has re turned from a stay of two weeks at Brown's Wells, Miss. He was joined in Morgan City by his nephew, Mr. Rousell Nor man who accompanied him to his home. Miss Margaret Nuttall is visit ing friends in Morgan City this week. MINSTREL WAS A SIGNAL SUCCESS. The minstrel presented here Thursday night for the benefit of Hausman Athletic Park by a troop of amateur performers from Morgan City was quite a success. The performance was very entertaining from beginn ing to end and a number of the performers acquitted them selves so well that they would have been a credit to profession al minstrel organizations. The •ivmony will take place at the Catholic Church in this town on Wednesday, September 6th, to be followed by a reception at the home of the bride. The happy couple will spend a short honeymoon on the gulf coast, after which they will take up their residence at Morgan City. In advance of the happy event, the Watchman joins their num erous friends in wishing them a long happy and prosperous life. Mr. N. P. Rader of Morgan City is spending a two weeks visit with his daughter, Mrs. C. C. Edwards.—Coast Herald.
