Phone 6. BERWICK LADIES HONORED Mrs. Sam Watkins Elected Presi dent, While Mrs. J. D. Ehrlich is Named Conductress. Other Berwick News. The ladies of Berwick secured the lion's share of the honors in the ! election of officers at the State As : semblv of the Rebekahs which was in session the first part of the week at Baton Rouge. Mrs. Sam Watkins, wife of the Mayor of Berwick was made Presi dent, the highest office within the assembly, and as a tribute to her fitness and popularity, she was elec ted to the office by acclimation without opposition. Mrs. Watkins is one of Berwick's most enthusiastic lodge and civic workers and the news of her election will be of inter est to her many friends on both sides of the Bay. Mrs. J. D. Ehrlich, another 'of Berwick's leading workers for the good of the city on the west side of the bay came in for a share of the honors at the Assembly by being made Conductress of the Assembly, a position which she is well * fitted to fill. Other Berwick delegates to the Assembly who returned with Mrs. Watkins and Mrs. Ehrlich yester day were Miss Tillie Robicheaux and Mrs. Chas. Drury. The next Assembly will be held in Crowley, La. Mrs. Sidney Coleman has return ed from St. Mary Hospital at Pat terson and her health is much im proved. There is not much doing in the towing business and the' Alarm and the J. N. Pharr a^e tied up in port with nothing to do. About thirty Berwick people at tended the Knights of Columbus lec ture in Morgan City Thursday night. Mrs. M. M. Fortin visited in Cen treville the first part of the week. Mrs. D. G. Lemkowitz and three babies of Centreville are visiting in Berwick, and are the house guests of Mr. and Mrs. Morris Fortin. Many beautiful flowers of almost every variety are again bloming in Berwick. The freeze of a month ago depleted the flower gardens. Dr. D. G. Lemkowitz of Centre ville visited in Berwick a short time yesterday and continued his journey to Natchez, Miss. Large shipments of fish and oys ters as being made daily by the Louisiana Oyster and Fish Co. to various parts of the country. The Morgan City Review is the the home paper of Berwick as well as Morgan City and is a good boos ter for both towns. Mr. and Mrs. John A. Pharr have returned from New Orleans where they went to meet their son Jack who has two weeks spring vacation which he will spend at Fairview. BERWICK WGMAN IN RACE FOR SUPREME DELEGATE Mr«. M. A. Sutton To Represent Berwick At New Iberia Meet ing. Mrs. Marie Sutton, the efficient Secretary and Treasurer of the Louisiana Oyster and Fish Co. of Berwick will represent the Berwick Circle at the Grand Gove Conven tion which convenes in New Iberia the last week in March. In addition to being the delegate of Grove Circle, Mrs. Sutton will be an active candidate for the office of Supreme Delegate to represent Louisiana at the next Supreme Con vention. Mrs. Sutton is thoroughly conver sant with all matters petaining to the order, and has the advantage of beipg a thorough business woman and stands high both commercially and socially in Berwick and Morgan City. She has the interests of the order at heart and it yrill be a credit to the Woodmen Circle of Louisiana to have her as a repesentative at the next Supreme Convention.
