D., 1917 at the City Hall, in the City of Morgan City, St. Mary Parish, State of Louisiana, in said School District, from the hour of Seven o'clock a. m. to the hour of Five o'clock p. m., on said day, to vote for, or against, the proposition embodied in the resolu tion adopted by the School Board of the Parish of St. Mary, passed on the 7th day of April, A. DAY ASSOCIATED PRESS CORRES PONDENCE. •New Orleans, May 16.—Proposi tions for consolidation of the mis sionary and Sunday School boards, and for establishment of a mission ary training school here will come before the Southern Baptist Conven tion here May 16 to 22. The Wo man's Missionary Union of the Church will aslo hold session here May 17 and 18. About 5,000 laymen and ministers of the church from every state in the South are expect ed to attend. The question of consolidating the Home and Foreign Mission boards and the Sunday School hoard, so as to avoid dfiplication of work and to the interest'of closer co-opération in those fields, has been one of tiie im portant subjects before the South ern Baptist conventions for several years. At the convention In Ashe ville last year a special committee was appointed to report a plan for consolidating the work of these boards and this committee will pre sent the plan devised to tiie conven tion here. Among the new projects proposed is the establishment in New Orleans of a Southern Baptist training school for home and foreign mis sionaries. There also will be pre sented a plan to raise $25,000 a year for 25 years to conduct a great Baptist Evangelistic and missionary campaign in New Orleans. Those fostering the plan will sug gest thai New Orleans be used as a field of practical work where the students in the training school may« get experience. Part of the funds, it is planned, will be used to buy land and houses for the missionary work ers, to pay salaries, and assist the workers in the training school. But the scheme also includes an aggres sive campaign to increase the mem bership of the church in this city and to establish, more churches, missions and Sunday Schools. Enlargement of the missionary and publication work of the Church | and plans for continuing begun last year of raising tiie^workj one mil-1 - lion dollars for a building and loan fond to assist chprchqs in the South, also will be discussed. New Orleans, May 16.—Nearly a half million dollars was raised last year by the Home Mission Board of the Southern Baptist convention ac cording to its report to the conven tion here today. Churches in the South contribu ted $862,618. From the department q| Evangelism $34,100 was secured. The church extension department taised $68,691. -In cash and contri butions this department raised 8156. W0. A debt of $72,000 was reduced to $86,836 by reason of the smallest administrative expenses in the beqrd'# history. The board'd work added 60,20 2 new member« to the church and had 1,710 volunteers fir ministry and mission work. In the enlistment department work was done in six states where 266 institutes were * held. Eighty churches were grouped into sevchty six pastoral field and 22 churches were led to increase the number of preaching services. Sixty-four pas toress fields were served. The «im raieed in this department was $58. 524. In the mountain regions two new schools were opened. The cost for conducting the schools in which over five thousand pupils are being taught was $133,000 of which ail but $38,000 was given by the mountaineers. These schools have graduated 149 students of whom 114 hâve gone to college. As the result of the work done by the schools not a single vote has been cast against prohibition in a single township in which these schools are located. The Board maintain seven mis sionary workers among the Indians and four churches of the Blanket Tribes and also rendering services twelve government schools. Among the five civilized tribes the Board co-operates with the Okla homa State Board in maintaining missionaries and a superintend ent who have baptized during the year 16 converts and raised for all purposes $8,720. Thirty-eight missionaries and three Evangelists have been at work among the negroes. From them 4,848 additions have been reported the churches, 2,627 by baptism.
