ARCADE TONIGHT The latest Triangle play, "Wild Winship's Widow," by John Lynch, in which Thomas H. Ince will pre sent Dorothy Dalton as star, is a comedy of manners and of good j clothes. The story is enacted in a fashionable southern resort where a I few old mansions of the first famil ies of Virginia stand in the back-j ground and lend dignity and tone to ! the functions at the great hotel of : the place. Miss Dalton's part is that of a young and beautiful widow, who has placed the memory of an unworthy spouse upon a pedestal, made an idol of it and extracted an immense amount of enjoyment out of her misery. But die discovers her mis take and becomes almost rackless in per attempts to prove that she is •till young and attractive enough to pet real seat out of life and to win toe admiration of the mas c u lin e sex. The result is tost she gets more de vtion than toe really caret far and to resort to certain vary femin wiles to extricate herself from the demande of her suitor». You may be liable to draft or you may be closely inter ested in someone who is. If you are liable to draft, you may desire to accept service or you may, for reasons either personal or public, or both, desire exemption from service. In either case, YOU WANT to KNOW promptly WHETHER you are surely drafted, or are likely to be drafted. If you are not drafted, nor likely to be drafted you will not need at this time to consider any plans for joining the colors, whether you wish to do so or not. If you are drafted, or seem likely to be, and you desire exemption, it is important that you know how to proceed in order to obtain exemp tion. Many thousands of the young manhood of Louisiana and Mississ ippi are concerned in these matters today. Many of these young men—those far from the head of the list as the numbers come out of the lottery— will not be able for a good while to tell with any certainty whether they are drafted or not. The men holding the numbers first drawn will be drafted first, but those further down the lists can not tell how mony of these men ahead of them will be exempted la ter. Every time a man is exempted the man drawn next in order comes in for the draft. It IS NOT SAFE to trust to the first newspaper reports. The utmost care cannot avoid inaccuracies in the quick handling of thousands of numbers through numerous opera tors. You will bo notified through pos tal channel*, by your exemption board if you are drafted for this fir*t army. The BURDEN of PRE SENTING YOURSELF for osami nation, l.owerer, RESTS upon YOU, WHETHER YOU RECEIVE SUCH A NOTICE OR NOT. Therefore you would do well to CONSULT your exemption BOARD promptly in PERSON and got YOUR statu* doarly in mind in per son and OFFICIALLY. Many young men believe that they are AUTOMATICALLY exempted by the details they supplied to the government when they REGISTER ED for conscription. THIS IT NOT TRUE. EVERY application for exemp tion, no matter on what ground, has got to be made ANEW to the RIGHT exemption board within ten days after he is drafted. IT MAKES NO differences if you i have lost two legs, an arm, and an ! eye, you will NOT be EXEMPTED ion physical disabilities UNTIL you I have actually APPLIED for exemp I tion and it has been GRANTED to ; you. < j It makes no difference if you are the sole support of a mother, a wife, two sisters and ten children, you will have to be exempt UNLESS you APPLY for exemption and show the facts by the witnesses re quired. Ootherwise you will be ex pected to be with the colors at the time allotted, and you are liable to punishment if you are not there. It makes no difference if you are a preacher of the Gospel or a Qua ker you have got to ask exemption and show the fact in the way pre scribed for that purpose. It makes no difference even if you are an alien enemy. You have got to ask exemption in the usual course with everybody else. THE DRAFTED MAN must HIM SELF APPLY for bis EXEMPTION in SOME cases. OTHERS may ask exemption for him in other cases— wife, mother, employer, or any one who conceives that the man's ser vices in civil life are more valuable to the nation than his service in the army would be. But SOMEBODY has GOT to AP PLY for the EXEMPTION, and do it in the REGULAR WÀY on the REGULAR FORMS prescribed by the law, and do it WITHIN THE TIME LIMIT allowed by law, or the government will REGARD the in dividual as DRAFTED, as a member of the new army, and NO LONGER OPEN TO EXEMPTION.
