BABINGTON'S DRUG STORE Franklinton, La. No Compromising For Wilson. Our political history shows that policies of compromise have not been successful in the United States, and Henry Clay, who was called the "great compromiser," never accomplished anything. The Missouri compromise and the compromise of 1850 served no good purpose. They may have postponed the war between the States, but they could not avert it. While President Taft had the temperament of a compromiser events compelled him to be a partisan, and as a partisan he suffered extinction in a political sense. But had he been able to compromise his extinction would have been none the less certain, and he would not have been rob bed of the distinction which comes from making a last ditch in behalf of a hopelessly lost cause. There is none of the compro miser in President Wilson. He states his position and then makes it clear that he will stand or fall by it. There is no con cession to the sugar democrats, no yielding to the wool Demo crats or the citrus Democrats. The President stands firmly for general tariff revision in behalf of the people of the country, and he cares nothing if the interests to be attacked are represented by men of his own party. The nation has much to hope from such a man, for he is a type which the American people need when there are large and diffi cult things to do. mest and Cheapest.
