Magee, clerk of election to serve at Frank. linton, all of whom shall serve without compensation. And said election shall be conducted under the laws of the state applicable thereto. Section 4. The president of this board is hereby instructed to give notice of the special election herein ordered, by his proclama tion to be published according to law; and in said proclamation he shall announce that at 10 o'clock a. m., Wednesday, the 28th day of May, 1914, this board will meet at their office in the town of Franklinton and in open session proceed to opeq the ballot boxes, examine and count the ballots in number and amount, examine and canvass the returns and declare the result of the election. On motion duly seconded and carried the followsng resolution Was unanimously adopted: Whereas, there has been filed with this boaid petitions signed by one-fourth of the property tax payers of school district No. 19, 21 and 24, eligible to vote at such election, praying that a special election be ordered in and for said school districts No. 19, 21 and 24, at which shall be sub. mitted the following propositions to-wit: 1. To levy a special tax of seven mills on the dollar on all property in school district No. 19 of the parish of Washington, La., subject to state taxation, annual ly, for a period of five years for the purpose of giving additional aid to the public schools. 2. Tolevy a special tax ot seven mills on the dollar on all property in school district No. 21 of the Parish of Washington, La, subject to state taxation, annual ly for a period of five yeare for the purpose of giving sdditional aid to the public schools. 3. ToUlevy' splecial tax of five mills on the dollar on property in school district No. 24 of Washing ton Parish, La., subject to state taxation, annually, fora period of five years for the purpose of giv ing additional aid to the public school. And, whereas, in the opinion of this board such special elec tions are necesary and advisable. Be it resolved by the board of directors of public schools of the Parish of Wa-hington, La., as follows : Section 1. That a special elec tion be and the same is hereby ordered to be held in school dis tricts Nos. 19,21 and 24 all of the Parish of Washington, on Tues day, the 26th day of May, 1914, at which shall be submitted the following propositions to-wit: 1. At election in school dis trict No. 19-To levy a special tax of seven mills on the dollar on all properly in school district No. 19 of the Parish of Washington, La., subject to state taxation, an nualiy, for a period of five years for the purpose of giving addition al aid to public schools. 2. At election in school dis trict No 21-To levy a special tax of seven mills on the dollar on all property in school district No. 21 of the Parish of Washington, La., subject to state taxation annually for a period of five years for the purpose of giving additional aid to the public schools. 3. At election in school dis trict No. 24-To levy a special tax of five mills on the dollar on all property in school district No, 24 of the Parish of Washington, La., subject to state taxation, an nually, for a period of five years for the purpose of giving addi tional aid to the public schools. Section 2. On motion duly seconded and carried the following resolution was adopted: That all schools running for not less than six months in the year, shall be per mitted, on recommendation of local trustees, to divide their school into two termas a year of not less than three months each, ,provided that no summer term shall open earlier than June 15 and such school has auflicient funds to its credit to run the sum mer term, and the teacher shall agree and be employed to teatch both terms. On motion duly seconded and carried Mr. C. Ellis Ott was ap pointed as a committee to select plans and award the contract for the rebuilding of the Bogue Loosa Creek so ool, same not to cost over $300. On motion duly seconded and carried Mr. F . J. Bateman was authorizgd and instructed to let contract for the construction of the Poplar Head school. Prof J. F. Peters came before the board stating the plans and needs for carrying on Domestic Science and Club work in the Bo. galusa school district. And upon motion duly seconded and carried this board appropriates the sum of $100 for this work when the people of Bogalusa raise a like sum and the state appropriates the sum of $50. Pursuant to resolutions passed by the board of directors of the public schools of Washington Parish, La., at its regnlar meet ing held on the 7th day of April, 1914, I, F. B. Batemai, president of said board, hereby give notice that, in compliance with said res. olutioits, special elections will be held in school districts No. 6, 18, 19,20, 21 and 24, of said Parish of Washington, La., on Tuesday, the 26th day of MIay, 1914, for the purpose of submitting to the property tax payers qualified un der the constitution and laws of the state of Louisiana, subject to vote at said election, the follow ing propositions to-wit: 1. 1r levy a splcial tax of six faills on all propery in whivul district No. 6 of the Parish of Washington, La., subject to state taxation, annually, for a period of five years, for the purpose of giving additional aid to public schools. 2. To levy a special tax of four mills on the dollar on all property in school district No. 18 of the Parish of Washington, La. subject to state taxation. annually for a period of 10 years, for the purpose of giving additional aid to public schools. 3. To levy a special tax of seven mills on the dollar on all property ,in the school district No. 19 of the Parish of Washing ington, La., subject to state taxa tion, annually giving additional aid to public schools. 4. To levy a special tax of five mills on the dollar on all proper ty in school district No. 20 of the Parish of Washington, La., sub jeot to state taxation, annually, for a period of five years for the purpose of giving additional aid to public schools. 5.
