Saturday evening as the popu lace deserted the city streets for 1 the depot to meet the incoming train and get the evening papers as is the daily custom, three I prisoners took advantage of the hour and broke thru the roof of the j:ýil with an old iron fire pok er and made good their escape, effecting a clear get away. ' These prisoners, with the ex. ception of Jones who had a yeas's jail sentence, were under.sen-. tence of one or more years in tihe penitentiary and were being held till Tuesday to be taken to 1 Baton Rouge, Those escaping were John i Greffett, Sam Johnson and Jesse Jones. So far as is known, no pursuit has been made of the runaways. Married. At 10 o'clock Wednesday at the bome of the groom's mother, Mrs. L. D. Greenlaw, a quiet wedding was solemnized between Mr. E. A. Greenlaw and Mrs. Virginia Eaton, only the immedi ate family being present and; Rev, C. T. Corkern officiating. The groom is well known and universally appreciated in Frank linton, an'd the bride also has rather an extended acquaintence here and is known thru her brief visits to F'ranklinton as a charm ing and splendid specimen of womanhood. A report comes in from Frank Carter, one of the ten who are demonstrating the boll weevil machine, stating that after two applications of the poison on a field that seemed ruined from the pest, the weevils have been subdued and the cotton is flour ishing with a surety of three bales from four and one half acres.
