D. R. READ, EBITOR. t Rice Harvest Beginning in Earnest This Week. While it seems but a few days since we were mentioning the fact that the planters in this section were finishing seeding, harvesting is the theme of the day now. A number of planters have begun cutting their early rice this week, while a few began as early as last week, and others will be in the tields with their binders the first of next week. The early rice this year '[ives promise of being of the tinest quality and an excellent vield is looked for. With a continuation of the present seasonable harvesting weather there is little cause for the people of this section to conplain this season, as there is every promise of an excellent crop with a good price practically as sured. Heavy Registration at Ardoin Cove Saturday. Saturday was registration day at Ardoin's Cove, and a very large per cent of the men of that locality were out and registered. In lact Saturday's registration was the heavest ever known in the cove. Heavy Registration Made in Wards 5 and 9 and the North Half of 8 Repstrar Dan Leveque, escorted by a strong following of Jennings watch ers, Welsh Boosters and politicians from different points of the parish was registering in the northwest portion of the parish ;Monday and Tuesday. The registration in that section of the piarish was a surprise even to those who were acquainted with conditions there, and must have been more of a surprise to some portions of the par ish that supposed there was nothing in the northwest portion of the par ish uht pin e stumus. Arsan LoeBleu box was the first pre cinet registered, where 63 men were placed on the registration books, the registrar, then went to Edna, where 3, more were registered giving Ward 5 a registration of an even 100 with a few more that will register at Welsh Friday.
