Brininstool, in the Christian Herald: "We're shipping guns and ;shrapnel out to boost the European 1War, and still for 'peace' our people shout and tell how bloodshed they ab hor: Our ammunition makers smile as foreign orders come their way; the public eveyr little while beseeches for 'peace' to pray. We read fresh hor rors in the news as correspondents do their stunt, yet Yankee merchants Idon't refuse to ship their powder to the front. What mockery to God it is for us to pray that peace may come, while Yankee bullets hiss and whiz and through the warring columns hum! I 'Oh, let the dove of peace descend!' in righteous, solemn tones we pray, while Yankee shot and shrapnel rend the º European ranks today! What hvpo Scrites our people are to ask the Lord to give us peace, then ship our guns and shells afar that war and bloodshed may not cease! Let's keep our powder I home, dear friend, and ship no stuff to rboost the war, and then perhaps the SLord will send the peace that we are praying for. Swat the Fly. Welsh is well known throughont .the State for her noble deeds and for charity and hospitality to those who are in distress. It matters not at what time a call is sent out for help the Welsh folks can always be found in the front ranks. But keep her contented, for that will help you to keep cheerful, ,k And to keep her cheerful-for that ad will keep her pretty. r. To keep her pretty is to help yourself is and keep your eyes off other women, a hj very necessary thing for a married man if he would be happy. Keep in mind the girl you led to the ,., 4ltar-for your wife is that girl; just as lovable, just as sincere, just as honest. Keep in mind also that you were ready to do almost anything to get her 1- -and so you are reminded that it's up ,e to you to make some little sacrifice in order to keep her. til Just keep your eye on your wife and do your share toward making a success of your greatest business undertaking -the business of being a happy mar rned man. Beetles of Prey. Many beetles are bugs of prey. Pro daceous insects generlly have waou derful appetites. The so-called "green fly," otherwise popularly known as "golden-eyes," is, as a larva, a tie. mendous gobbler of plant lice. It thinks nothing of devouring 100 of them, one after another, at a meal. Thus insects themselves do much to keep the numbers of other insects down. But not even with their aid. nor with all our ingenlity in deviutan methods of destruction, could we main. tain a successful fight against injurt* ons bgas were It not for the he'9 givem by birds.
