There was a fellow we used to have In this country long ago, When asked if a task that was har could be done, Would answer "I reckon so". Hauling of rails or carrying of loads Running or walking slow, "George do you think that it can b done" He would answer "I reckon so". Then he would buckle down to the tas Stormy the sky or blue, And the spirit that answered the ques tion asKed, Would always carry him through. Helping a man was a common task For he lived where the good deed grow, "Can you do me a favour the questio asked. He would answer "I reckon so". Anything he had he would give, On the hardest trips he would go, If a man is hungry he ought to be fed, Said George "I reckon so". Never a kinder heart to beat, Or quicker tears to flow, Discouraged soon will the darknes fleet He would answer "I reckon so". George he sleeps at the edge of tb woods Where the mountain blossoms blov Did he love them all and the song of th birds He would answer "I reckon so". I guess when he stood at the city gate Where they say the faithful go. And God was asked if he could go in He answered "I reckon so". -Roanoke, La., November 23,1915.
