CARROLL, Clerk 15 .·;. ..~ LILLIAN RUSSELL IN WILDFIRE On Dec. 17th, the Welsh Motion Pic ture Co. presents the five part photo- of play "Wildfire," with Lillian Russell in ur the lead. The story of the play, which Ne was produced with great success in of 1907, related how Bob Barrington con- sto ducts a racing stable on Long Island for without the knowledge of his daught. 1 ers, Henrietta and Myrtle. Barrington ret is traveling in the west and meets John boi Keefe, a gambler, They play cards ma alone and Keefe kills Barrington and ma steals the bill of sale to his racing stab. thi le, leaving a sheet of the inventory on the floor together with a curious cigar. thi ette holder, taking all the papers of the ad dead man. There is an inquiry as to on0 the cause of the death conducted by lef John Carrison, the young sheriff. The An verdict is ouicide, the body being un- m identified. Gorman, a pal of Keefe's is du the only person who knows the truth. "p' Keefe goes east and claims the stables ha but Matt Donovan, the trainer, sus es' pecs foul play. Keefe changes his name ch; to Duffy and becomes infatuated with Henrietta. John Carrison also goes rel east and sees Henrietta and thinks he ac recognizes in her a striking resembl- Ar ence to the picture found in the watch fr of the dead man. Keefe and Carrison W meet at the home of Henrietta. Keefe ph denies his identity but Carrison inci dentally shows him the curious cigar- pr ette holder and Keefe betrays himself Carrison sends west for the watch and the missing sheet of the bill of sale. He starts with ethe watch for the home of S Henrietta and losses the watch en r route. It is found by a street beggar and pawned. Henrietta happens to be passing the pawn shop and is attracted by an article in the window. She enters and finds her father's watch with her picture in it. She overhears Keefe tell th Donovan that he bought the stable of M her rather and her suspicions are arous- at ed. She -shows Keefe the watch and picture and he again betrays himself he and she is certain her father met with pC foul play. While playing tennis with w Henrietta the missing sheet of the bill of sale falls from the pocket of Cartison r and she finds it and the .mytsery deep - ens. Henrietta resolves to take no one into her confidence. She visits the of. CC Sice of Keefe, secrets herself outside the cc window, and overhears a conservation di d Detween Keefe and Gorman. They m leave the office and she finds the com- cl t, plete bill of sale and compares it with the missing sheet. Ralph Woodburst, the finance of Myrtle, has been induced by Keete to bet large sums at his pool room. The day of the big handicap is approaching and wildfire, the crack fit ly in the Keefe stable, is being backed G to win. Keefe sends Donovan to rob Henrietta of the missing sheet but she 0 covers Gorman with a gun and the plan is frustrated. Henrietta, on the day io of the big race, seeks out John Carrt Jo son, and accuses him of being in col lusion with Keefe or Duffy. She shows Carrison her proofs, the watch and the a missing sheet. Carrison tells her the 1 truth. Keefe realizes that he must flee o the country and he prepares for a final coup. He backs another horse to win 6 bribes Chappy Raster, tbe rider of wild rfie, to use the whip on the mare, which a will cause her to sulk, if the flag on the 18 racing stable is up when the horses o0 start. Henrietta overhears the plot o and goes to the office, where she has a terrific struggle with Keefe. She suc. ceeds in pulling down the flag while 8 fighting Keefe, Carrison coming to her assistance and dragging Keefe down 0 the stairway, where a furious struggle o ensues. The story closes with Henri o etta on the roof, the flag down, in the o arms of her lover, wildfire having won the race. 25 Welsh Camp No. 176 W. O. W. Elects to Officers.
