O. GAUTHIER. GIRLS! GIRLS! TRY IT! STOP DANDRUFF AND BEAUTIFY YOUR HAIR. Hair stops faling out and gets thick, wavy, strong and beautiful. Your hair becomes light, wavy, fluf fy, abundant, and appears as soft, lustrous and beautiful as 'a young girl's after a "Danderine hair cleanse". Just try this-moisten a cloth with a little Danderine and carefully draw it through your hair, taking one small i strand at a time. This will cleanse the hair of dust, dirt and excessive oil and in just a few moments you have doubed the beauty of your hair. Besides beautifying the hair at once Danderine dissolves every particle of F dandruff; cleanses, purifies and in vigorates the scalp, forever stopping F itching and falling hair. But what will please you most will be after a few week's use when you will actually see new hair-fine and downy at first-yes-but really newi F hair growing all over the scalp. If you care for pretty, soft hair and lots of it, surely get a small botte of P Knowlton's Danderine from any drug. gist or toilet counter for a few cents. --Adv. Dand. 1 WOODLAWN NOTES. This section was visited by one of the severest rains ever known to have c fallen for a ong time last Saturday I and Sunday. As the rice crop is be ing gathered, a good hit of damage will he sustained by nearly all the planters of this section. Mostly all the n farmers have some rice. either down. or shocked, and if this dlamp weather continues, much of the grain in the cap sheaths will sprout. Only cool. dry weather with plenty of sunlight will help to save much of the grain. which now, by its looks, is very bad. A few of the farmers have spld a part, and in somecases all of their crops. A few car loads were shippcd e i from here during the current week. l The dance given at Iowa last Wed- I] nesday4 was a great success, and all who attended- from this section are planning to patronize the coming next e one. Nearly every community in south 1 and southwest Jeff Davis was repre- a sented by groups of young people from these sections. There were also U crowds from Vinton, Sulphur and Lake Charles. Pupils in school are closely co-op- f crating, fixing up the school grounds K in order to put a gridiron for foot ball field. Stumps are being dug i and trash burned and disposed of. Mr. Ben Otain was a business visit or to Lake Charles for the week-end. v Last week .Mr. Leonard Doget had t the misfortune of crushing his thumb 3 in a steam engine while threshing on Mr. Mlack Sharp's farm. He was taken to Lake Charles where his in- a jured thumb aws treated. F Politics are dead. At least this is t about the only way one may sumarize his points after interviewing the farm- C ers. It is to he noted that as far as t who is going to be governor does not F bother them much. It is to be doubted I1 even if fifty per cent will come to the r polls to vote-especially if they are e busy at the time. COMMERCIAL INDUSTRIES WILL BE PAO.rL. 7.EU IF YOU DON'T HELP. The rain is giving the farmers quite a rest but we do not believe they ap preciate it. Like many other hlessings it is mistaken for a disadvantage. Last Friday night. Oct. 3rd., the Christian Endeavor held their social at the home of MAr. John Diener, near Roanoke. Miss Pearl I)iener acting as hostess, assisted by .Miss .Mercy Child ress. The house was beautifully light ed and at an early hour the guests began coming. On account of the rainy weather there were only 35 present. Among themn were Rev. and Mrs Childress. The Buchl and Schultz Orchestrl of Jennings furnished most excellent music. There were several pieces played on the piano and sung by the crowd. Bro. Childress treated us with a few poems of his own pro duction which were enjoyed emensely. There were a few games played and everyone exchanged gossip. At 10:30 cream and cake were made ready, while our ever pleasant and courteous young men, -Lloyd Diener, William Poythress and Thomy Thomas, waited on the guests. At 11:30 o'clock Rev. Childress dismissed the crowd, and they all expressed themselves as hav ing spent a pleasant evening, departe'd for their different places of abode. Euryth Winchell celebrated her eleventh birthday by entertaining 21 little, friends at her home on East First Street. They played games and had music and each little friend brought a gift as a token of friendship. It being Irma McMillan's birthday also she joined the rest of the youngsters. After they were tired out playing Mrs. Winchell served a four course dinner with plenty of ice cream and cake. We all join in wishing both Euryth and Irma many, many happy returns of Oct. 7th.
