The Police Jury of the Parish -of Jeflerson Davis, State of Loui siana, met in regular session at the Court House in Jennings, La., •. in this day at nine o'clock a. m. n The meeting was called to order by Honorable C. E. Carr, presi dienl, and upon roll call the fol lowing members were present: .I. A. St. Germain. Ward 1. W. Krielow, Ward 2. S J. MI. D)avis, Ward 3. i). E. Cole, Ward 5. c (. E. Carr, Ward 6. The minutes of the regular ses sion held on April 7th, 1921 were - read and approved in open session A communication was read t from the State Board of Health s upon the matter of sanitation of the Court House and Jail; Mr. Krielow moved that the Sheriff be directed to properly screen the , Jail, and scrub the floors and Cells. The motion was seconded Iby Mr. Davis and upon being put was carried. The noon hour having arrived Mlr. Marcantel moved that the Police Jury adjourn for noon un til 1:30 p. inm. The motion was see onded by Mr. Davis and upon be ing put was carried. Afternoon Session The Police Jury reconvened at I 1:30 p. in. with the same members present as in the forenoon session. Resolution Whereas, the District Attorney's otlice has advised this body that I because of the demand upon him 1 in the Courts and other matters \ connected with his official duties 1 also, he is precluded from acting 1 for this body in the matter of X slpecial service in connection the N following mentioned matter: S. Whereas, a real necessity in the opinion of this body now exists for the appointment of special counsel for the purpose of repre 21. senting this body in the above ish mentioned matter, the same being ui- necessary for the benefit of the at public. a., Now therefore, be it resolved that Honorable .1. H. The marriage occur ed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Talbot in Lake Charles on Sunday evening at 5:00H) o'clock. Rev. G. B. Hines ofliciating. The bride was Miss Beulah Wilson of Siloam Springs, Ark. She was science teacher in the Roanoke high school last year, filling the same position in the J Lake Charles school this term just closld. She is an accomplish ed and popular young lady. The wedding was private, only - the family and a few friends be ing present. This number includ ed Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Goodreau and daughter, Miss Eldia, Mr. and, 0 Mrs. E. S. Goodreau and children of Jennings. Following the ceremony the 1, bride and groom came to Welsh. stopping at the Goodreau home for the present. They will go to Arkansas shortly to pay a visit to the bride's parents, I)r. and Mrs. Wilson, after which they will return to Welsh and "set up" housekeeping. The Journal joins the many friends in extending heartiest congratulations. ----------- Mrs. A. Reeve Surprised. Monday evening a small crowd of relatives and friends formed a surprise party, it being the occas sion of Mrs. A. Reeve's birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Reeve were peace fuHly sleeping when they were aroused by shouts to open the door. A jolly good time was con eluded by an abundance of angle food cake, devils food cake, candy - and lemonade. The guests leftI wished Mrs. Reeves many happyt returns of the day. Mr. and Mrs. Aristile Benoit and Mrs. B. J.
