A meeting of archbants and clerks was held at l3,.lab' Hall, Saturday, Sept. 15th, wth the ject of forming a compacet for the observance and enforce meet of the Sunday law. The meeting went into permanent or ganization by electing T. J. Labbe, Chairman, and J. A. Resweber. Secretary The Chairman opened the meeting by CO stating that the object of the meeting was to form an association for the en- BR foicement of the Sunday law, thus ae curing to the merchants and clerks, their much needed day of rest. It was resolved that all those signing khould form a committee whose duty will be to report all violations of the Sunday law to the Chairman, who will cause the arrest of the parties. Messrs. Geo. Bastin, J. B. Ferran and K. Schartz were appointed on a commit tee to notify all merchants not present, gm that the enforcement of the Sunday law will begin Sunday at 12 o'Clock. The excursion from Thibodeaux to St. Martinville, last Sunday, must have been a success, for the eight coaches were apparently full of excursionists. We understand that our town was a fair contribu tor to the happy crowd and that all teturned at night delighted and contented with the kind re ception extended to them by our generous and hospitable neigh bors.-N.
