B. Fer ran. The Rees faction reopened their campaign by holding a meeting last Saturday, at Isle'Labbe, which used to be their biggest strong hold. Mr. Mouton is an old gen tlemen who has many friends in St. Martinville and St. Martin pa rish, who regret to lose him as one of our esteemed citizens. But in Lafayette, he will be among all his children. -The entertainment given last Saturday for a charitable purpose, was a success as to what concern ed the performance, but the finan cial part of it was not what the promotors anticipated, and this was due to the fact that it was gi ven on a Saturday evening, as a large number of persons are occu pied with their business until a late hour on that day, and also at this time a very large number of our people are enjoying the plea sures of the Carnival in New Or leans. These are the reasons why the entertainment was not more successful. My mother suffered with chronic diar rhoea for several mouths.
