The most important development in the Anse-La-Butte field was tbh uncapping by the Moreei Compa ny of their third well which has become a fine flowing well, with a capacity of about 60 to 75 barrels of oil a day. Oil has been known to flow with the aid of pumps sev eral times but this is the first well proving the value of the field as a paying proposition. The Moresi's uncapped their well Thursday morning and as the news reached Lafayette, a number of our oil prospectors hur ried to verify the report The well flowed continually for more than twenty-four hours, and the last news was that there had been no dimunition in the volume of the stream. The Moresi's are to be congra tulated upon their achievement. They have been assiduous in their work at the Butte, and no one de serves success more than they. There is no doubt that renewed interest will be manifested in the possibilities offered by the Anse La-Butte properties. - Lafayette Gazette. A STARTLING TEST. To save a life, Dr. T. G. Merritt, of No. Meboopany, Pa., made a startling test resulting in a won derful cure. He writes, "a patient was attacked with violent hemorr hages, caused by ulceration of the stomach. I had often found Elec tric Bitters excellent for sacute sto mach and liver troubles so I pre scribed them. The patient gained from the first, and has not had an attach in 14 months." Governor Blanchard was duly inaugurated last Monday. Im mense preparations and much de coration was displayed around the platform, but when the time arriv ed for the thing itself, the rain fell in torrents, and the beauty of the trimmings was spoiled. The core mony took place in the state house and his excellency, after being sworn in, stepped upon the plat form and delivered his inaugural address, which was a long drawn out repetition of wbat every other governor said since the days of Adam with the new trimmings bought out by the development of additional questions. We did not vote for Blanchard in the first primary, and we are not therefore on hand w ith a sup erfluous supply of advice on how to steer the craft through the rocks and bring her into the safe harbor of an everlasting glory-leaving that task to the "original and faith utal." One thing in his favor and which pleamses as to a degree just this side of hilarious approbation, and that is, he will be the governor without embellished advice from any soarce. His obetinate strenu ous characteristics at once recom. mead him Mas his own adviser and dietator of everything from the Florida parishes to where the Sa bine divides us from the princely kingdom of the Texan. May 21. 1904. Governor Blanchard bhad a hard time in the two campaigns he made for his office, but we take it, the work in them was light compared to what he will have to do between now and July 1. The office-seek. ers, the men with jobs and those with grievances will make life a burden to him. But be must stand to the rack. He asked the people to elevate him and they did so. It is now to him to dc for them the best he can. This, we believe he will do.-Mansfield Journal. -The ball game last Sunday at Beelin's Park, between the High School Champions and the Pinaod ville club was in favor of the High School Champions, the score was 19 against 15 and the boys think they played a good game. -Mr. T.
