Foster Says Sugar Will Sutter
Senator l'oster, whose term as a
I'ilted states Senator is nearing
its end, while on his way home for
the holidays was inuterviewed by
the differenut New Orleans papers.
He stated in reference to sugar
which constituted the greater por
tiou of his interview that there
would be tariff legislation on su
gar. He is qutoted as follows:
"No living man can forecast the
fate of sugar ni the tariff rever
sion. Congress wants free sugar;
Congress wants the tariff taken off
entirely. The Senate, more con
servative, is largely of the opiuiot,
that there should be a reduction.
Senators have not agreed as to
what the reduction should be. It
is my opinion that it will be more
than 10 per cent. I shlould eat
that it will in all probability be in
the neighborhood of 33 per cent.
The lumber tariff is being consi
derably agitated also. Tlhe effect
of the reduction of the tariff on
sugar in my opinion will cripple
if not destroy it."
If your children are subject to attacks
