V. Fournet and his sons, (Gorge and Willis, will un dertake a large rice crop in the Pointe Claire section. The election for two Represen tatives for St. Martin Parish will take place next Tuesday, there are two Democratic candidatee and one Progressive. It appears to us that Thibodeaux and Labbe have the best chances of election. Judge Joseph E. Ransdell will be here on January 25th., to deli ver an address to the Colombiad Woodmen, Knights of Columbus and the public on Fraternalism. Judge Ranedell is an interesting speaker and all who will hear him we are sure will be satisfied. We have noticed from the pa pers that thousands of ton of wheat have been shipped from New Or leans for the relief of the Belgians and very little rice. It seems to us that thousands of tons of rice should be shipped from New Or. leans and flour shipped from other ports. Rice is every bit as good as flour as food and much - cheaper. We can see no reason why greater quantities of rice should not be shipped from this section and less flour.
