It is about time the country come to a realization of its proper 0( senses. It is time we economize ;m not only in food, but in dress.' The stupendous strides the nation e has made in dress and duding up i tb is not only alarming but danger- cE ous and expensive The stage has) been reached where people in al- tl most all walks of life are dressing p 'above their means, and are sacri- n ficing necessities and opportuni ties to satisfy the craving for dress. i, It is ruining democracy, it is des- tl troying ideals so necessary for the ý f, men and women of to morrow. It has permeated the schools until a poor people feel uncomfortable n about sending their children to school for fear their children will be pointed out, will be mortified by the remarks of those possibly b less able to afford better dress, yet ci i flaunting it in the faces of ther t children. It is time the whole tl community, in tact the country let . up in dress and return to the sim- e pler and less expensive mode of living. The place to start dress. ing is in the school with the intro- t tion of regulation uniforms. Uni form d ress adopted. the effect for good would spread and the evil would be curbed. Why not start it at home and in our schools now't -Thibonaux Commercial Journal. SEED RICE FOR SALE. Fancy Blue Rose seed rice tfree from red riee for sale. Oswald Durand, R. R. The Police Jury sold its $300, 000 Gravel Road bonds at its meeting Monday at a price which" we consider very good under pre sent conditions. ~he buyer of the bonds was Mr. J. C. Barry, cashier of the Bank of Lafayette. Now thmt the bonds are sold and the money available we expect the Police Jory will rush the engi neers in completing the survey. Bids were also received for gra vel at the Monday meeting, but they were not passed upon until further investigation could be made, as to rail and water rates and an estimate of the amount needed is made. The picture giveu at the Bien venu Opera House Monday for the benefit of the local Rt41 Cross chapter was a big success, the big theatre was crowded and every thing the ladies had for sale, was sold and the result altogether was entirely satisfactory. Large improvement were made to the large store of R. J. Gary Co., Ltd., including a new floor which was made lower than the old one, and other repairs which will much improve the place.
