The gross debt of the United States on August i. 1914, was One Billion Dollars. Exclusive of any debts that may be created this year, our indebtedness, on Janua ry first was Twenty-one Billions. During the same period Great Britain's debt jumped from three and a half billions to Forty Bil. lions! Frauce increased hers from six and a half to Thirty Billions! Every one of the extente nations owed more than we did in 1914 and all except Italy have gone deeper since that time.. The gross debt of the Teutonic nations, at the beginning of the war, was Eight Billion Nine Hun dred Millions. It has increased to Sixty-four Billions! ies Relatively to national wealth, lly Great Britain's debt increased dur ep ing the war, from four to forty. four per cent. Gernmany's went Bry t from six to fifty per cent! France's debt equals a forty-five pe. per cent mortgage on her total is- wealth: Austria-Hungary sixty per tea cent. while that of the I'nited States represents only eight per Ve- cent! er-- ..s - - SYVaccinate Against Charbon.
