Notice and Proclamation of
i HEREAS, ONE THIRD OF THE
V qualified electors and property
tax payers of Drainage District No. 2 of
the Parish of Lafourche, comprising all
that portion of the Parish lying and
being on the right descending bank of
Bayou Lafourche, from the upper line
of the Acadia plantation to the Gulf of
Mexico including the Bayou Blue set
tlements, have filed a petition in writ
ing with the commissioners of said
Drainage District No. 2, wherein they
set forth that they desire to incur delbt
and issue negatiable bonds to the
amount of Eleven Thousand Dollars, the
said bonds to run for a period of ten
years commencing with the first day of
Y ebruary 1900 and bearing five per cent
per annum interestpayable annualsv for
tihe purpose of effectively and thorough
Iv draining the lands comprised in said
Drainage District No. Sand to that end
and for that purpose they pray that the
commissioners for staid Drainage District
call and order an election in aecordan -e
with law and submit to the property
tax payers of said Drainage District No.
2. who are qualitied electors, a proposi
tion to levy and assess a special tax on
the assessed valuation of all taxable
property situated in said Drainage
District No. 2, of five mills on the Dol
lar,' the said special tax to run for a
period of ten years commencing with
the year 1900.
Now therefore, we the undersigned
Drainage commiusiouers of said Drainage
District No. 2, by virtue of the power
and authority vested in us by the Con
stitution and laws of Louisiana, and by
virtue of a resolution and ordinance
passed by us on the second day of
December 18990, authorizing this notice
and proclamation do by these presents
order that a special election be held in
said Drainage District No, 2 for the
purposes herein above set forth, on
Tuesday the 16th day of January 1900,
and It is further ordered that the polling
places, commissioners of election and
clerks shall be as hereinbelow de0igna
ted, and that all polls shall open at the
hour of 7 o'clock a. m. and close at 5
o'clock p. m.
The undersigned oommissioners of the
said Drainage District No. 2. will in
open session to be held at the Court

of January 1900 at the hour of 10 o'clock

of the Parish of Lafourche that con
formably to law the office of the regis
trar will open on Tuesday January 2,
1900, for the purpose of registering all
entitled to registry under the constitu
tion and laws of Louisiana, and that for
