He eaves a wife and three mall chldra . Our Reply. We are very sorry that the crit. r cam which appeared in the They Say Scolumn of this paper concerning the incorrect date of the Comet's Supple. ment was taken so very much at heart by Editor Taylor. No cnriticism I which has ever appeared in the They Say column has ever been given in the spirit of ofease. We have never tried to shelter our. rselves behind the *"impenetrable wall of perfection", nor have we ever laid claim to being otherwise than human, therefore the thought of our being divine or perfect is perfectly ridicu. lous. We do not consider it just to resur rect matters which have been relegat ed to the shades of the past for some time, and to hold them up for criti. cism, as the time for such has elapsed. If our criticism in regard to Price's show was couched in language which was distasteful to the Editor of the Comet is a matter of perfect indif ference to us. We are satisfied that the people of Thibodanx construed our criticism in the proper light, and that the Comet is fearfully mistakeu if it thinks that our remarks retected upon any lady or gentleman present. Died. On last Friday night at about 11 o'clock the friends and relatives of Mr. P. Auguste Aucoin assembled around his bedside to see his spirit take its departure from this world, which had contained so much sufer ing for him the last few years of his life. Mr. Acolin was prominently con nected with the management of the Rice mills of Ernst & Co., of New Orleans for over twenty years. When the tocsin of war sounded in 61 he answered its call and enlisted in the Lafourche Cadet, a company of the 26th regiment of Louisiana. After having served hi government with the faithfulness of a patriot for ser. eral years he returned home to his family and until his death had led a life of usefulness and uprightness. Mr. Aucoin was 61 years and 3 t months. His remains were followed i to the 8t. Joseph Catholic cemetery, 4 by a large number of friends and re latives where they were interred onI January 18th, 1903. We extend to the bereaved family! our deepest sympathy. Proclamation. On Board his Royal Yacht. January 22, 1902.
