A meeting of the Base Ball Asso ciation was held Wednesday night to dispatch some very important busi. Ac ness which was pending. H. L. Gibbs was elected manager and captain of the team vice H. B. Dupre resigned. Dr. T. A. Stark was elected presi. (I dent, vice J. L. Basset resigned. P. P. Delanne was elected Secretary and Dr. O. L. Braud was elected 2nd vice President. 1 The team has been organized anew and expenses to a considerable extent fror have been cut down. The Base Ball Nes Association is doing all in its power Rai to provide good games of base ball duo on Sundaya for the amusement of efe the people but so far has not met with the proper encouiagement essen. pro tial to th'- success of the work. Not. Hoi withstanding an air of indillerence on be I a seemingly adverse sentiment to ' base hall matters on the part of our at people the Association has been moved to make one final effort to nes maintain and support our base ball ( team. diff In order to pay the expenses of low the team as it is presently composed the gate receipts every Sunday must be at least one hundied dollars. All er 1 that the association asks and in fact ( implores of the people is to come to Sat these games. Within a radious of three miles of the town can be found a population of over ten thousand awi people and surely out of this large of population there ought to be four I hundred people who are willing to this see a good game of base ball every week. The ladies from now on will be Ski charged no admittance fee and all 1 that the association expects of them an is that they shall talk base ball and EBl help the association in its efforts to secure a large attendance at the park every week to witness the base ball to games. We hope that the people of the town shall become thoroughly inter eated in base ball matters and shall talk base ball, nothing but base ball, kil base ball until good encouraging at- wa tendance are secured at the park. is Wake up people of Thiholwaux. Have thi some pride and show our sister towns soi of fHonma, Donaldsonville, Morgan the City and Plaquemine that we have eg about us a spirit of progressiveness thl aol that we are not sleepy headed. he All these towns have splendidly su pn iined hasp hail teams ant te giving them proper support an n is to your duty to help the Association in Wb their struggle to provide amusements an for the people every Sunday. oh Greys Again Victorious. ea m. A highly interesting game of base ro ball was played at the park last Sun-. day between the Smith Bros. of New th Orleans, and the Greys whit h result- , ed in favor of the home boys by a score of 7. to 4. Our boys played I good ball and proved too strong for m the visitors. Pierce was in the box m for the Greys and pitched a fairly , good game. He was not at his best but at any rate was too much for the visitors. Robuchaun was in the box of the 'klandues" and did some very as clever work. Had he been given pro. a per support the score would have been much closer. The game was of played in one hour and thirty mmi' rtes and was much enjoyed by all rc present. Rooters Club. rc A Rooters Club of about thirty g member strong was organized last h Wednesday night for the purpose of h promoting and eneouraging base ball e sport. Tli heldi tende Every town and city has its town hanp killers. Some do their killing in one their way, some in another. Genurally it t is lone through selfish motives, saldi through haste to get rich. The per eve son who gained fame through being every the owner of a goose that laid golden Fat eggs, was so greedy and inpatient in all that he couldn't wait for the laying, Tl he killed the goose and performed a for to surgical operation to get at the eggs. str Ube os~mnestkillers of that may happen to be wanted for the 1 an enterprise that has for one of its ever objects the building up of the undus. Souti tries of a community, and thus giving riet 1 employment to labor. There are ones men, who when thqy ld out that a tod manufacturing enterprise or a rail, and road wants real estate of which they fortu happen to be the owners, and which they have been ofering for sale, who they will mark it up fifty or one hundred wort per cent lust because it is wanted. TI If they are led to Imagine that a rail- and road or a manufacturing enterprise forse must have their property, they maiy brilli add two or three hundred per sent to eou its actual value. Such persons are townskillers. There is no way to get around th "m, unless their property may be asaessid A and condemned and sold in that way, Bay, they think only of themselves, w.th with out corsidering that the public has tors, any rights in the matter. It is to Lt. Bell regretted that there are any such per Urbh sons; but there are, and they are to Celh be founi In almost every city sail day sown. Where they are numerous yu they may effectually lprevent, the cae growth of any city in which th'y may whil have their abiding place. olde Every man has a right to control cro' has own; but the good citizen, in the SMr. exercise of such a right, will also Lake were into consideration the welfare of the aive community in which his properly is a Ini located. No man has any right to well expect the property of another, with. mer out paying him for it as its full value; folk but on the other hand no man ought Ben to control his own property in such a Krs way as to be detrimental to the lnter. fread eats of hi.' neighbors. mew If there be any such in ' Karucvilie, IC. It proved to be one of the happiest gatherings in the history of their assemblages. The people of Dallas entertained the battle scared soldiers in a lovely manner and didi everything in their power to make the welcomed visitors stay in their beautiful city pleasant and enjoyable in all respects. The old e anfederate veterans woe for themselves undying tame in the struggle in defense of justice asat the leadership of Davis and Lee will ever be revered and honored by the Southern people. It is not to resur rect buried issues to awake the mem ories of the past for the South loves to dwell upon the deeds of valour and prowess of her sons. It Is un fortunate that they were perforneet in a contest against brothers. but they were none the less heroes and worthy of rememberstee. The South is loyal to the Undone and will ever be, but it will sever forget her sons who turnished such brilliant pages to the annals of our countrys history. Kraemerville News.
