OILDINANCE NO. lSe it ordained by the Police Jury of the Parish of Lafourche ip regular meet ing assembled, that a franchise for the construction of a toll Canal interceect ing the bayou Lafourche at some p )int between the 33rd and 53rd, mile poet on bayou Lafourche below the town of Thibodaux, be and is hereby granted to a Messrs. Bragard and (k'nstantin Bros., their heirs and assigns upon the follow ing conditions, to-ait: - (l) The said Canal shall be not less than 30 feet in width and shall at all time be open to the public offering to a for the privilege and use thereof a toll not exceeding those now charged by other canal owners or companies now existing in this State. (2) The use of the said canal shall at all times be free for use by the Parish od authorities of this Parish and it shall he on so constructed as to not interfere with but rather enhance the drainage facili ad ties of the section through which it 3) If said Canal intersects the bayou ;ar Lafourche at a point where State or ux Parish levees now exist on either batik of the bayou Lafourche, then, said ca:iai shall be locked in a manner satisfactory to the authorities in lnterc.t, but n . los locks shall be required, however, if pre vious to the construction of the contem J. plated canal the bayou Lafourche shall of have been locked or dammed at Donald sonville or elsewhere.
