About a year ago, the people of Lock port were about building a school house for the education ot their childreu. They proposed to erect an ordinary structure, when it was suggested that tho.v should arouse themselves and build a line building, that would be au ornament to the town, ji monument to their cr.egry, anti at the same time be useful for other purposes of profit or amusement of the citizens. This suggestion received the consideration its im portauco merited. A company was incorporated under the title of "Loekport Pub* lie School Association'' and the matter of building a school house at once takeu into consideration. A Fair was gotten up out of which 3386.50 was obtained for the worthy object. A lot was purchased, and pre paiations to bnild a substantial and useful structuie were made. Seeing the will and determination of the people, the Parish School Board appropriated $600.00 to assist them. The building is not quite fiuish ed, but will be completed duriug the wiuter.
