September, 14th 1878.
Pursuant to adjournment the Execu
tive Committee of the Democratic-Con
servativo party was called to order by
Duncan Stewart, president, with the fol
lowing members present: Hoe. J. B.
McGehee, C. N. Gibbons, Mat Gilmore,
Wash Hands and W. W. Leake.
The reading of the minutes of the last
meeting was dispensed with.
On motion the following resolutions
Resolved., That a convention of the
Democratic-Conservative party, be held
at Stirling's spring, near Wakefield sta
tion on Saturday the fifth day of Oct.,
1878, for the purpose of nominating parish
Resolved, That each ward in the parish
elect on Saturday, the 28th inst., (3)
three delegates to said nominating con
vention, and at the same time nominate
their ward officers, (i. e.) Police Jurors,
M agistrates and Constables.
Resolved, That the several wards in the
parish, be allowed the following represen
tation in said nominating convention to
1st ward Bayou Sara 3 votes; 1st ward
St. Francisville 5 votes; 2d ward 3 votes;
3d ward 6 votes; 4tL' ward 5 votes; 5th
ward 8 votes; 6th ward I vote; 7th
ward 3 votes; 8th ward 3 votes; 9th
ward 3 votes; 10th ward 10 votes, total
The committee then proceeded to the
election of a member to the state central
committee, when the Hon. R. H1. Hyland,
was unanimously elected.
The committee adjourned to meet at
Stirling's spring, on Saturday the 5th of
October 167d, at 10 o'clock a. m.
