ABB > - - - - EDiToa The house yesterday resumed consideration of the territorial bills, the pending question being the Macdonald substitute for the sprin ger omnibus bill. The substitute provides fdt the immediate admis sion of South Dakota, and it era* rejected by a vote of: Yeas, 117; nays, 122. Physiologists tell us that our bo bits change once in seven years. More or less, says the New Haven (Out).) Newt, time—and politics— changes Blinds. In 1870 Messrs. Allisou, Cullom, Dawes, Hale and Hear, then members of the lleuse, voted to abolish the duty on coal. List Wednesday the same men, now Senators, voted ugainst placing bitiminus coal on the free list. Free coal would mean much to New England. PITITIONi said to represent 14,* OOO.UOO persons were presented to the Senate on Wednesday praying Congress to forbid “needless ’ Sun day work in mail aud military ser-1 vie®.and in interstate commerce. It could hardly have been imagined says the Philadelphia Record, that there are so many of that sort of people in the United States. strauge to say, the immeuso multi tude alleged to be represented by this petition have hardly a repre senalivo in Congress to vote to grant their prayer. Ihe controver sy over Sunday mails was disposed of fifty years ogo by this Govern ment; and it is not likely to be re opened at this time of a day, not withstanding the ponderous peti tion presented to Congress. There is no place where the title nonsense is indulged in to such a disgusting extent as it is in Wash ington, says the Post. It is “Cjen tral.*' “Colonel,” “Major” and “Judge” at every turn. Very often the men given military titles were never in the army and in many cases where they were in the service they had no such titles as they are given here. Seusible Ameriean people do not believe much in titles. 15esid this, it is un-American. A man is no more “honorable” because he holds a prominent office than he was appointed, or than lie is after he has discharged his official duties and retires to private life. A course, vulgar, drunken man cannot te turned into an “honorable” by be ing elected or appointed to some prominent official station. In this country, all men who be have themselves, who do their duty in private or public life, who ileal fairly by their employers aud em ployes, stand on equal footing. Plain “Mister” is good enough for the beft of American citizens. The toadyism and flunky ism that sur round men in official life is disgust ing iu the extreme. Let the people who bow down to royalty and so called nobility have a monopoly of the title business. America has no royalty ond no nobiiity. WERNTZ. No Universal Remedy has yet been discovered ; but, as at least four-fifths of human diseases have their source in Impure Blood, a medicine which restores that fluid from a de i praved to a healthy condition comes as near being a universal cure as any that can be produced. Ayer’s Sarsaparilla affects the blood in each stage of its formation, and is, therefore, adapted to ’ a greater variety of complaints than any other known medicine. Boils and Carbuncles, which defy ordinary treatment, yield to Ayer's Sarsaparilla after a comparative ly brief trial. Mr. C. K. Murray, of Charlottesville, i Ya. t writes that for years lie was af flicted with boils which caused him i much suffering. These were succeeded by carbuncles, of which he had several at one time. He then began tha use of Ayer's Sarsaparilla, and after taking three bottles, the carbuncles disap peared, and for six years he has not had even a pimple. That insidious disease, Scrofula, is the fruitful cause of innumerable com plaints, Consumption being only one of many equally fatal. Eruptions, ulcers, sore eyes, glandular swellings, weak and wasted muscles, a capricious appe tite, and the like, are pretty sure indi cations of a scrofulous taint in. the system. Many otherwise beautiful face* are disfigured by pimples, eruptions, and unsightly blotches, which arise from impure blood, showing the need of Ayer’s Sarsaparilla to remedy the evil. All sufferers from blood disorders : should give Ayer’s Sarsaparilla a fair i trial, —avoiding all powders, ointments, and waphes, pud especially cheap and \ worthless compounds, which not only fail to effect a cure, but more frequently aggravate and confirm the diseases they | are fraudulently advertised to remedy.
