Washington, July 12. —Trade be tween the United States and Germany will be resumed immediately, Frank L. Polk, under, secretary of state, so an nounced. Mr. Polk said blanket licenses would be issued, but dyes, chemicals and pot ash would be excepted. Control over trade in these commodities will be ex ercised by the reparation commission under the terms of the peace treaty. . A formal announcement regarding re sumption of trade relations was prom-, ised within forty-eight hours. Mr. Polk made it clear that resump tion of trade relations with Germany did not abrogate trading with the ene my act, nor was it to be taken as meaning that the state of war was at an end. Vance McCormick, chairman of the war trade board, has previously an nounced that all arrangements for re moving restrictions on trading with Germany have been completed so far as the American government is con cerned. Action by the supreme economic council in session at Paris, in lifting the blockade alone is awaited. Mr. McCormick, who returned from Paris with President Wilson, said there would be virtually complete free dom of trade, subject to the limit of credits which Germany might be able -o establish. o— There is more Catarrn in this sec tion of the country than all other dis eases put together, and for years it was supposed to be incurable.
