The weather was nice and 1he presidents, members and friends took advantage of this beautiful day and came to the board. We were surprised to see such a largely at tended meeting at this time of the year. EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING The Executive Board held its quarterly meting at 8:30 with Chair man A. J Barnett in the chair. The attendance was 100 percent. The board elected Mr. Dewey Johnson of Hattiesburg, Mississjcm. to fill the vacancy created by Mr. Joe Knox, who was accidently killed >last month, on the Executive Board. The Executive Board made a Xmas contribution to the Scholar , ship Fund in the amount of $100.00 i ft also made contributions to all of the'officials of the Executive Board I SCHOLARSHIP FUND We are happy to state that the scholarship campaign is moving a long nicely. The majority of the presidents are availing themselves •with the opportunity of sending in their pro rata share now. As we go to press the scholarship fund has more than $720.00 on de posit in the First National Bank on a Savings Account. Those presidents who have not sent their pro rata share are re quested to do so at the earliest pos sible date. Some of the presidents think that it is all right to wait un «s',iN ie..N «.N**.;n *t.Ntft-ii fii.a * *•.>5 ( til July to pay the fee, but it is net. )If you have got to do a thing, why not go ahead and do it now and be I through with it. We are publishing | the names of the presidents who I have responded elsewhere in this issue. DEATH BENEFITS We paid 39 claimants in this board and to their beneficiaries we paid $200.00 each, or a grand total of $7,800.00. H. B. A. We are grateful to the presidents for this nice showing Al though some of the presidents lost members, others brought them up. Lodge No. 22 I has lost a good member. He was held membership rn the lodge for 36 years. His dues were always pajd in advance. We will miss this faithful member. After the program a feast was enjoyed by ail. $32.00 was raised. Rev. and Mrs. Clay, of Gulfport Miss., visited the ratter’s church here on Thanksgiving Day. Every body was glad to see them. ■Mr. C. W. Wilson spent Thanks giving with his mother. He is im proving nicely, but cannot walk. He has returned to the Veterans’ hospi tal in Jackson. Mr. Willie Jones died suddenly ‘ after an attack with his heart on TUr.v.1_ T-v __ i -i~>ay. ne leaves to mourn a w:fe and several children. I He was a Mason. ■■T. and Mrs. Cloria Nixon's sen accidently shot and killed himself Wednesday before Thanksgiving. He was only 17 years old. We extend our deepest sympathy to the family in the death of young Gaither. His pastor. Rev. S. H. McDonald, con ducted the funeral.
