An Act to authorize the Vestry of Washing
ton Parish to lake and enclose certain J'arts
of Streets in tht City of Washington, for
the Purpose of extending the Washington
Cemetery and for other Purposes. '
Be it enacted by tht Senate and House of
Revrfsentatites of tht United States of Ameri
ca in Congress assembled, That the Vestry of
Vashiugton parish shall be, and bra here,
authorized, with the consent of the corpora
tion or the city ot Washington, to take, en-,
close, and use forever thoso parts of Eigh
teenth and Nineteenth streets east, which lie
between the north side of U struct south aud
the north side of Water street; and ulso those
parts of south Q and south II streets which
lie between Seventeenth aud Twentieth streets
east, for the purposo of eularging the Wash
ington Cemetery rrouded, I hat the power
hereby conferred shall not be exercised as
regards such particular portion of either of
the aforesaid streets as may pass In front of
any lot of ground not owned by the said Tot
try, until the said vestry shall become the
owners of such lot of ground : And provided
further, That thesnid vestry shall not sell for
any purpose wnatever any of trie atoresala
parU of streets, but tne United etatos shall
retain and bold such parts thereof as may be
laid out for burial purposes for tbe interment
of members of Congress Or such officers of the
government as may die in Washington. . 1
