Saturday night, indlcalo that tho murder
was committed by their father, Leonard
Mnrquard. who is ovidently Insane, from
a spiritual cauic. The story of the afl'uir,

days ago ho read h chapter to his family
from the llible, and then raising up ac
cused his wifo of being u witch and using
witchcraft. IIu sain tho oldest daughter
continued him in his acctisatio.i. Ho says

wife that ho wanted their children to
leave; that both ho and his wife atripped
nuked, knell down and prayed for Oftccn
minutes; they then stlpKKl"the two chil
dren, took them out utid drowned them,

tbo stream. They then dashed out the
brains of tho Infant, and left it lying In
tho woodi after which ther returned
home and went to bod. After lying there

farmer and lias been in this country ubout
eighteen years. Tho murdered woman
was his second wife.
HECOND DISPATCH.
The 'Chronicle' special from Dayton
gives tho testimony before the coroner's
jury of Elizrboth, ages -even nnd Haba
kk aged six. They teitifUd that their
father and mother, after dark on
Saturday night, hunted for all
the children. They Iwo hid.
They heard tho mother take two of the
children and tho fathor the baby. There
was a light snow. The mother and father
killed tho three with their hands. Tho
father killed the baby first and then the
mother killed I.eali and Samuel. They
came into tho house naked and began
praying to God in Heaven. Tbo children
saw the threo dead on the ground, and the
mother and fatlinr naked. The two chil
dren were hunted for by tho parent nfter
tho death of the threo others, but wero not
found. They got away to tho straw-ttack
at daylight Sunday, and stayed there un
til found in the after-noon. The skull of
the babe, six months old, was all rnashed
in. Post-mortems wero had of tho mother
and three children. The examination is
still going on.
