The lands purchased by this com pany cost from SSO to $235 per acre for different homesteads, upon which there are fine deposits of high grade phosphate, upon oueof which is estab lished a fine plant of the most ap proved machinery, engines, crushers, log-washers, dryers, elevators, seives, railroad tracks with cars and dummy engine for trans|Mriing the phosphate from the troll works of the mine, where it is elevated from 2u to 50 feet up out of the mine in steel buckets holding 1,000 or more pounds and dumped into the cars) to be taken to th* crusher aud passed through the process of pertecting seventy to eighty tons per day ready for market. The company lias shipped to England ov i twenty cargoes of 2,(KK) tons each, and inis now a number of cargoes pre pared ready to be sold when the mar ket commands $7.50 to SB.OO per ton f, o. b. Unfortunately there are a number of companies who borrowed money to run their mines, they are obliged and compelled to sell as fast as they mine, tiie brokers take advantage and bear the market to the lowest far thing, which will insure an organiza tion of the miners for their protection. Indeed, there is now beingoigauized a company to control the Florida phos phates on this side the waters, forcing Hie manufacturers abroad to buy here, and manipulate their ocean freights and contiugenees for them* selves. The wiki, extravagant idea of there being phosphate to supply the world for the next hundred years is being last dispelled. Some who thought their mines would run for twenty-five years have exhausted them in as many months. Numbers of others will soon run out, whicu is attracting , ihe attention o f business men to the tact that the business should he prop erly husbanded, aud soon they will have tiie phosphates of Florida pay ing dividends next to the Standard Oil Company of Pennsylvania.
