PTBtaSHKD AT
BOWBELLS, H. P.. OH FRIDAY OF EACH WEEK
BY THOS. H. HIHLY.
Entered at the postoffice in Bowbells, N'. D..
Jan. 25,1900, as second-class matter. i
There is a magnificent chance
for the fool-killer to work into a
big: iob. on short notice, in thisj
vicinity. The fake hail insurance
solicitor has been here and in less
Than no time roped in a lot of
soft-heads to give notes for al
leged hail protection—a most
damnable fraud that should
briugtheexeerationsof all honest:
people on the head of the State
Commissioner of Insurance for
allowing such abominations to
ply their nefarious business in
the state. This time the smooth
tonffued solicitor hailed from the
vicinity of Hankinson and repre-1
senred what is known as the Mu
tual Hail Iusuranc-e Co. of^Han
kinson. We understand, how
ever. there is a clause in the
policy allowing: the assured to
cancel same at any time they
may see tit—or feel insecure—and
we advise our friends now to lose
no time in taking: advantage of
this clause and demand return of
their notes. Beats all how some
people will crowd to the front and
pay a premium for being- made
damphools of.
Lawrer Rentier a Coal Baron.
Under the above heading we
find the following in a late copy
of the Review, published at Mil
bank. S. D.. and handed us by
our friend. F. E. Philleo:
Lawyer Bentley says that ""you can't keep
a good man down." and that politics or no
politics he means to keep on rustling. He
has lately become interested in a company
that owns 1,280 acres and three coalmines
in Ward county. North Dakota, on the Soo
road, near Bowbells. Ttje name of the cor
poration is the Bowbells People's Dry Coal
company, capitalized at $1,000,000. I"he
officers and directors are: President, H. S.
Wright, Minneapolis: vice-president and at
torney, L. H. Bentley. Milbank secretary
end treasurer, J. A. Wright, Minneapolis.
Articles of incorporation have been prepared
and tie company will be incorporated under
South Dakota laws. Milbank will be the
home office. Mr. Bentley says the coal is a
very dry and clean quality, fully equal to
Hocking Valley, and can be laid down in
Milbank at $2.75 to $S per ton. If brother
Bentley can do this he will be entitled to the
grateful thanks of the wb«le community.
