Address Victor Oil Co., Cleveland, O. 2t Joe Smishek of near Powers Lake, one of those prince of good fellows w|ho is always a welcome visitor in Bowbells, is here this week act ing as juryman at the present ses sion of the district [court. Joe called on his friend The Tribune immediately after arriving in the city Monday afternoon, and brought with him Nick Glisczinski, another prominent resident near Powers Lake, who is also a juryman. Joe confided to us tlbat he liked the Bow'bells people Jand the city itself better than any town he ever had anything to do with, and that it was only the great distance be tween here and his place that kept him from coming .here oftener. Ho, however, felt ltKe a kid with a new doll, when he received hi* subpoena to act as juror which permits hinx to remoin for a week or more as guest or the city with expenses paid by the county. SUFFERS BIG DROP G. Butgereit of. west of the city who recently returned from Medi cine Hat and other points in west ern Canada, told us that the long predicted drop for that country had finally come, and that prices of real estate, especially in the cities, [had dropped in many eases as much as 50 Iper cent in the past three months. Th e Conditions there, and especially in Medicine Hat, are such that it could be considered little less than a panic, and many people will suffer hard times be fore the winter is over. Mr. But gereit states that no less than half a dozen big factories -had erected buildings and shipped in plants at Medicine Hat, the sites having been donated by the city, and all were promised and expected to get mon ey from the banks with which to start business. T!he banks are in such a condition that they cannot loan out a cent to anyone, and the big plants which expected to em ploy hundreds of. men, are stand ing idle. Other factories which had been running during the past few years are compelled to shut down during the past few months for lack of custom'. Their ware houses are filled with goods, and no market can be found for them. In talking with the working people Mr. Butgereit found that they were not worrying as they were all as sured (hat these factories would start running again in the spring. Mr. Butgereit, however, is of the opinion that the factories will no* open again in the spring, and lie doubts if they open again at all. A big drop was sure to come soon er or later to that overboomed country, and he is sure that it has come now. Wm. Benbow of Aberdeen, S. D.. special agent for the German-Am erican Fire Insurance Co., was in the city one day last week checking up the local agency, and while here attended a meeting of the Masonic lodge. To all those who so kindly assist ed us during our recent bereave ment we tender our most sincere thanks. We wish to especially thank the donors for the floral of ferings at the funeral, and also for the many wortd(s of sympathy from our friends, all of which greatly helped us in carrying the heavy burden.—Mr, and Mrs. Tobey Bergli. HERMAN ENDRESON S A E Y Count7 Commissioner John Bry an, who during the past few davs has been acting as jailor for Sher iff Stainhofcr during the term of court, tells The Trbiune that the jackrabbits in the foothills near his place continue to be as numer ous as ever, and that any of 1t!b neighbors with little effort are able to .kill 20 or more in half a day with a shot gun. While some of the farmers there use the rabbits for food, most of tliera kill tiro ani mals to feed to chickens, and use only the best ones on their own table. Mr. Bryan suggested to us that we organize a number of sports in Bowbells some Sunday and come out to his place for the purpose of killing the long eared cusses. He tells us that in company with Jim Uglum he would he willing to take charge of. the hunt, and would guarantee that at least a wagonload could be killed in a half day. Mads Ejsing, who is hauling hay from the hills is willing to corrob orate the statements made by Mr. Bryan. METHOWST EPISCOPAL CHUROII Services for Sunday, Feb. 1st. Some have doctored for years for gas on I the stomach, sour stomach or con stipation and Benno Drug Co states I if they will try simple buckthorn bark, glycerine, etc., as compound led in Adler-i-ka, the German appen- dicitis remedy, they will be sur i prised at the QUICK benefit.
