School was suspended Tuesday on account of the snow storm. Martin Hager and Joe Schafer autoed to Flaxton Monday after noon. Theo. Schweyen sold a cow to Joe Lux last week for the small sum of $90. Does it pay to raise stock in Burke county? Miss Irma Mendenliall was shop ping at the metropolis of Burke county Saturday. Miss Marvel Madison, who has been attending school at Regina, and her friend, Miss Dorothey i.'utts, spent Sunday with the for mer's parents. Mrs. Theodore Schweyen was a Bowbells shopper Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Schafer spent Sunday visiting relatives at Bow hells. Mr. and Mrs. F. R. Stanton of Bowbells were Northgate visitors Saturday. Mrs. R. Emerson and Mrs. W. Clark spent Sunday evening at the home of Mrs. Henry Schweyen. W. Willing, who has been assist ing J. O. Kramer, Langworthy lumber agent, for several days, re turned to Crosby Saturday. Mrs. Pat Walsh has been in ill health for some time, and is now under the care of Dr. Doe of Bow bells. We hope she will soon im prove in health. Miss Susan Blaska has been em ployed as seamstress at the home of Mrs. Schafer the past week. Ralph Schudar, builder and contractor of Bowbells, transacted 'business here last week. Mr. and Mrs. J. Gaylilor of near Portal took up their residecne here Monday. Mrs. Harry Halloway and sons are visiting friends and relatives at Regina, Sask. From another correspondent: The dance and moving picture show given in the Northgate opera house Saturday evening was at tended by an immense crowd and all declare a fine time. The Bow bells-Coteau orchestra furnished the music and supper was served at the Gem Cafe at the usual hour. Mrs. Tom Madden, Jr., was taken to the Flaxton hospital Tuesday where she was operated on for an abscess. Mrs. Borst and son Harry, Mrs. Nygard and Mrs. Theo. Schweyen were Bowbells visitors last week between trains. Miartin Hager and Joe Schafer autoed to Flaxtpn Monday on a business trip. George Felton purchased a fine driving horse from F. Vandervoort last week. There was a small attendance a church Sunday and it is hoped to have a larger crowd in the future. A big dance will be held in Coteau Saturday evening, May 9, and the Bowbells-Coteau orchestra will fur nish the music. Everybody come. TJ1ere will be the best of movies at Northgate every Wednesday and Saturday nights. Come and see the best moving pictures that are shown. Another big ball game was pull ed off at W. S. CLAYTON (From Staff Correspondent) Palmer Christianson, who is em ployed by Dr. Paulson at. Flaxton, is visiting with his pparents here a few days. Frances Bogus will be able to return home this week. He has been laid up for about three weeks from a severe case of blood pois oning, and at present is at the hos pital at Bowbells. Mrs. C. P. Christianson enter tained the Big Butte ladies aid on Sunday afternoon. A very large crowd was present. This aid at. the present time has about $3 00 in its treasury which will be used for building a church in the near future. Ia. Gosecky had made arrange ments to plow Wednesday morning and would have started on this work were he able to find his plows which were under several feet of snow. Louis Kuethe has a team of horses that can beat any automo bile in the county for speed. Louis attended the ladies aid at Chris tiansons Sunday afternoon and for got all about a very pressing en gagement for that evening until quite late. But we venture to say he made it in plenty of time as the last we saw of him he was making about. 80 miles an hour. Cor. Woods and Owings took in the Sunday school meeting at Lignite Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Watt spent Sunday at J. D. Beards. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Eaton and children spent Sunday afternoon at D. C. Morrisseys. L. L. Griffith spent Sunday at E. G. Downies. J. M. Jensen and family spent Sunday afternoon at J. D. Beards. Miss Florence Bliler spent Sat urday and Sunday at W. D. Owings. Miss Merrila Clinton is spending a few days visiting her sister, Mrs. Mathiason. Mrs. R. E. Doughty left last Thursday for her nome near Am brose. Mr. and Mrs. C. I. Clinton spent Sunday at C. I J. C. RANDALL, Wm. Auffarth of Noirth Star township while in the city Wednes day told The Tribune that someone in l'is neighborhood was shooting up the mail boxes on route No. 2 from this city. This paper has warned the people against this practice several times during the past few years. To be caught in any way molesting a rural mail box means a heavy fine or a long term of imprisonment for the guil ty party. The mail boxes out in the country are protected just as much by the postoffice department as are the postoffices in the city. i Justice of the Peace in and for Burke County, North Dakota. H. A. Andrew Anderson of eight miles southwest of the city last week purchased a Hamilton piano from the McGovern Piano Co. for $4 00 and Bob Mertes of south of the city purchasel a Howard for $37 5 from the same firm. The Tribune last week mailed out 2,000 sets of sampled of bank work together with prices on same to that number of banks in this state, Montana, South Dakota, Ore Igon and Washington, meaning that every bank in the states named each received a set. Since that time this office has been swamped with orders and from the looks of tilings our new automatic press will be kept running double shift during the next two months. Our prices on all this work is' consider ably lower than other printing plants are compelled to charge and the various banks are taking ad vantage of it. The new press will probably be set up next week. About ten days ago we were ad vised that the erector would not be able "to leave Chicago until the 12th of this month for Bowbells to erect the press, he having several •machines in Chicago which required his attention before he came here.
