Mr. Fay returned home iu the even ing and started the fire in the kitchen stove preparatory to cook ing supper and went out to the barn to put away his team. Com ing back to the house he noticed smoke in the rooms but could not discover the cause. A few min utes afterwards fire broke out in the roof near the chimney and tho buildng was beyond saving when the fire department arrived.
