No one was in the room at the time and the fire was not discov ered until it had made considerable headway. By the time the lire department was ready to make any effectual re sistance the entire building, which is a flye-story structure, was amass of flames. The firemen stuck bravely to their posts and 'by heroic effort saved Hie buildings in the neighborhood. Firettien White and Hartmen, who lost their lives, were caught under falling walls. Death was instantan eous. The building was second in size on ly to the International Harvester oompany's buildihg and the loss of the structure aud the machinery is total. The agent j^ived $50,000 in notes from the safe, but nothing else could be taken from the building. The building was insured at the Case headquarters in Racine, Wis., and the loss is fully covered. Edmore, N. D., Nov. 19.—A firq which broke out about midnight Sun day night destroyed property valued at 188,600 before it was under control early today. A fierce northwest win^ fanned the flames and made it almost impossible for the fire fighters to da anything. The losses and insurance are as follows: Edmore Mercantile com pany, stock of $40,000, with building of $22,000 partial insurance. Tony La Brier, restaurant building, loss $1,600 the restaurant, operated by John Miller, had a loss of $600, about) half insured. William Collins, har ness shop and building, total loss of $2,000, with half insurance. N. W. Hawkinson, building valued at $800, half insured, occupied by Mrs. L. A. Evenson, milliner, J. H. Braund, loss $7,000, one-third insured. Rosartl Hardware Co., stock of $10,000, with building valued at $3,000, half insured.
