AGNES LAMB IS MISSING. Pretty Dawoer, JMM., Qirl Caae to MiMt Twa Year* Ago to Pile oa I Claim gaad |lkr Mother Has Heard Notbfaig Fro* Her. •l.V) 704 70 Agnes Lamb, a pretty young woman 23 years ot* age came to Minot two years ago to taice up a claim and her mother and oth er relatives at Downer, Minn., have heard nothing from her since. Several letters which were sent to her. are lying in the Minot postoffice uncalled for. The mother is nearly distracted over her daughter's prolonged ab sence and has implored Chief of Police Kimball to search for her. The chief has searched the hotels and although he has showrt the girl's picture to many, no one has seen a person resembling her. She worked for a man named Bishen at Wahpeton shortly after coining to this state and later accompanied the family of Chas. Brownlee to Velva, where she intended filing on a claim. She may have disappeared by foul means. She is described as being five feet, four inches in height, of slender build and is of Scotch descent. On the right side of her neck are scars caused by removing several lumps. Any one knowing of the whereabouts of the lady will confer a great favor on Mr. Kimball and her mother, by notifying Mr. Kimball at Minot. Couldn't Accept Bids. D. A. Dinnie was at Towner Monday where the commissioners of McHenry county intended opening bids for the new jail and sheriff's residence. An injunction was served on them restraining them from accepting the bids. It is thought that the citizens of Granville, ever jealous of her sister city, Towner, worked up the deal, intending to go after the county seat again. Coldest Day. Sunday was the coldest day known in Minot for years. Many thermometers registered 45 de grees below zero and some broke before getting down so low. Plenty of lignite kept the people comfortable.
