Mjren The Tailor. tf? m~ OTWGHI New York Store Robber Caught. Sheriff Scofield went to Bis mark last week to secure requi sition papers for Chas. Sankey, the young man who robbed the New York store. He then went to Helena, Mont., but the gov ernor being away, he did not se cure the papers. He then went to Great Falls where Sankey was arrested, and induced the young man to accompany him to Minot without those papers. Scofield secured 30 jack knives, 12 razors, spirit levels, and 8 revolvers that the officers at Great Falls took away from Sankey, and brought them to Minot. The cost marks have been identified by the pro prietors of the New York Store. Sankey claims that he is inno cent, but everything points to his guilt. When arrested in Great Falls he was in a second hand store buying cartridges for one of tne stolen relvolvers. He was traced to his room where the remainder of the stolen goods were found. He has been seen in Minot at least once before the robbery was committed. SAVINGS DEPARTMENT MINOT NATIONAL BANK. s- He Havejthe Key E. Pixley. a (treat Northern brakeman, who made his home with his sister at Devils Lake, fell over a stone in the Great Northern yards in this city Saturday morning at an early hour, while making up a freight train, and both legs were cut off. He was given the best of atten tion at once but died at 8 o'clock in the morning from the loss of blood, and on account of the great shock to his nervous sys tem. Mr. Pixley was a young man of excellent habits. He was a member of the Masonic order. His remains were shipped to Devils Lake Sunday. Horace Tripp, a Great Northern brakeman, who lived with his mother in this city, was instant ly killed near Lone Tree early Saturday morning, by falling be tween the cars when the train was in motion. It is expected that he made a misstep while walking over the tops of the cars- The train upon which he was breaking went on, no one knowing that a terrible accident had occurred. A second freight Granville. W. S. Davidson went to Town er Saturday night. W. J. Evans attended the ball at Velva Friday night. W. R. Smith, of Lansford, was here on business Friday. W. H. Walker and wife were here from Sherwood Thursday. Herman Hartman and Christ mas made a trip to Minot Fri day. Geo. Hart went to Minot last Friday to make final proof on his claim. Chas. Hurd, of Ray, passed thru here on his way to Mohall Saturday. Dr. .T. C. Simpkins and family left Saturday for Washington where they will make their future home. Miss Flossie Simpkins is said to have attempted to leave town last week with a suit case claimed by W. S. Davidson. Marshal MINOT NATIONAL BANK TWO GREAT NORTHERN BRAKEMEN ARE KILLED SAVINGS ACCOUNT TO-DAY train east bound. passed over the remains, and a third train had nearly passed before the awful discovery was made. The mutilated remains were picked up and brot to this city and prepared for buria'. One arm was severed from the body and the body was cut in two across the chest. Horace was a young man about 2~ years of age. a steady, sober fellow. He was his mother's sole support, and it can be said of him that he was ever kind to her. The blow was a terrible one to the mother who just a week before lost he' little girl after a seige of ten weeks of typhoid ftver. Mrs. Tripp boj-e up in a noble manner and while she has but one child left, realizes that it is the wish of Him that this loss should be fall her. The funeral was held from the residence Sunday after noon and services were also held from the Presbyterian church, Rev. Mr. Harris officiating. The remains were interred in Rose Hill cemetery. He was a mem ber of the A O. U. W. and this order turned out in a bodv. Chas. Beardsley took possession of the grip at the depot, and took it to Judge Olson's where the spoils were divided. Atty. W. E. Slavens got the lion's share. Chas. Heft, the horse man from Montana, was kicked by a horse Friday here, one bone in his leg being broken. Nels Kenyon purchased a resi dence lot in the eastern part of town and moved his house in from the country. Miss Barbara Ross returned home Saturdav from Montana where she has been visiting her sister for several months. W. H. Nelson found his red Irish setter in the possession of a resident of Velva. Aftrr licking a couple of Swedes he secured the dog and is happy once again. Nute Doyle purchased a lot on west main street. He will erect a two story building 22x40, the upper part to be fitted for living rooms, for his family. Interest fit. Open Daily. Saturday and Monday Evenings 7 to 8:30 P. M. Lumber Dealers Still Fighting. Dozens of new residences are being built in the city. Lumber has been reduced in price just one third, but how long the yards will keep their fight ou is a ques tion. Some believe that the fight will end this week Now is the time to buy lumber and Minot is the place to buy it. If yon live thirty or even forty miles of the city it will pay you to come here for your lumber while the fight lasts. Go to any of the yards and you will get your money's worth. One yard owner re marked to the Independent man that he did not care to ell much lumber at the present prices, but had to meet the other fellow's price. On some classes of ma terial the yards are losing con siderable money. It is expected that fifty buildings will go up in Minot yet this fall on account of the fight. REDEMPTION NOTICE. To E. E.
