Conditions in Missouri. A letter received from a subscrib er in Missouri says: "We are going to have a few peaches if they are not killed by frost. Trees just bloom ing. We had ice last night. Have put out some cherry trees and grapes. Farmers are just clearing off corn stalks and beginning to plow Wheat nearly winter killed. Two weeks ago, some fields did not show a bit of green, but look better now. Roads are better than for a long time. Farmers have been dragging them, which keeps them smooth. The Independent is better all the time." Joe Killion, editor of the Towner News & Stockman, was promised the secretaryship of the board of railroad commissioners, by Kennedy, the Republican state committeeman, providing he withdrew from the fight before the primaries, for railroad commissioner. This Mr. Killion did, and for some reason did not get the job. He supported Marshall for the Senate during the early part of the game a year ago, then switched to Little, after which he howled for Johnson. Later he turned his coat and set up a few Indian war whoops for Gov. Burke, and has been award ed by being appointed a member of the board of control. Joe will get the candy, all right. Wm. Big Hank Marean takes exceptions with the Independent over a state ment which was made recently in this paper, in which we stated that a farmer was foolish to buy his but ter and eggs. Mr. Marean says that in the several years that he has farmed, he has raised but two hogs one calf, one colt and now has only one chicken on the farm. He says he is satisfied with what money he has made at all grain farming. All farmers are not as lucky as Mr. and we will show you have not. this one before you buy, T. L. Simmons, 3-25 tf Foxholm.
