Smallwood and J. H. Tompkins, who presided. Minutes of the August meeting were read and on motion made by Dr. McCannel and seconded by Mr. Mur phy they were approved as read. Moved by Mr. Murphy that the Superintendent be instructed to use the office room in Central School building for first grade pupils. Motion seconded by Mr. Smallwood and car ried. Moved by Dr. McCannel that over flow of pupils trom the sixth grade be transferred to the room in the Roell building now occupied by the Seventh grade, making Sixth and Seventh grade work in that room and that the teacher's salary be as per scheduue. Moved by Mr. Murphy that all ap plications be addressed to the Board of Education and filed with the clerk and that all correspondence with ref erences and investigations made be re ported to the Board and filed with the clerk and that the application blanks be changed to conform with this rule. Motion seconded by Dr. McCannel and carried. Moved by Mr. Murphy that the mat ter of medical inspection be laid on the table until the next meeting. Mo tion seconded by Mr. Smallwood and carried. Moved by Mr. Murphy that the for mer action concerning non-resident pupils be rescinded and that the Sup erintendent be instructed to take in all pupils where there is room on pre sentation of receipt for tuition paid. F. Truax home. Mrs. Chloe Truax, her aunt, will accompany her to St. Paul in about a week to remain for the win ter. John Nelson, deputy state auditor, arrived from Bismarck Saturday to spend several days with his family. Mrs. Nelson and children will go to Bismarck in about a week to reside. Dr. and Mrs. F. A. Brugman went to Tagus Saturday to visit at the Cir cle Double B. ranch, owned by the doc tor's brother, W. J. Brugman. The doctor dug up his trusty old musket and bagged a few ducks out near the ranch. The Independent is in receipt of a letter from Taylor O. Thompson, of Bismarck, the state printer. Mr. Thompson evidently grew homesick for he ordered the Independent sent to him. He informs us that he is planning on visiting Minot friends about the middle of the month. Mr. Thompson is making a good record in his new position. Herman Gordon, formerly of Gordon Broi., now of the Plymouth Clothing House, cordially invites hie old friende to call. Opera House Sleek.
