State's Attorney Backlund and Sheriff Gullickson of Lisbon returned Saturday night from Chicago, where they had been on official business in quest of Alexander Clemjoworski, alias Alexander K. Davis, of Enderlin a fugitive from justice, wanted on the charge of bigamy. He was located at the ..aval Training Station on the Great Lakes, and proper extradition papers having been secured, Sheriff Gullickson promptlv brought his man back, accompanied by the state's at torney. The preliminary hearing was held Saturday before Justice Potter of Enderlin, and the defendant was bound over to district court under $1,000 bonds. Defendant is now confined in the county jail, not having secured bail. Clemjoworski's offense is a seri ous one. He has a lawful wife and child in Chicago, and at Enderlin there is a young woman, one of the most re spected ladies of that town, who had lived with him more than a year, under the belief that she was his wife. It seems a. wedding ceremony was per formed in this second instance—but of course not a legal one, owing to the fact that a first wife was alive. There is also a child by this second woman. We have been requested to not pub lish all the names—at least not at present. D., Nov. 28.—It was a sad Thanksgiving day for Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Ingraham, of Sentinel Butte, N. D., whose daughter, Grace, aged 8 years, was burned to death while pinned under an overturned prairie schooner, fired by the small heating stove the family was using in its overland journey. Two other babies were burned be fore the father and mother could res cue them from the blazing wagon, while five children were rescued un hurt.
